Nancy Pelosi's Husband Killed 19-Year-Old Brother in 1957
Per Daily Mail, Paul Pelosi's brother, David, had advised him to drive more slowly before the deadly collision. Paul, now 82, informed Patrolman Thomas Ganley that he tried to slow down in the stick shift automobile by moving gears but lost control.
On February 22, 1957, around 2:40 a.m., the accident occurred. Paul picked up his brother from a girlfriend's residence in San Francisco, and the brothers decided to take a joyride instead of returning home. Upon arriving at the hospital, David Pelosi, a freshman at the College of San Mateo, was dead.
David Pelosi was likely strangled by a brace he was wearing to support a neck fracture he had incurred when he jumped into shallow water in Lake Tahoe, according to the publication. Ganley and another officer, Jack Rakestraw, saw David's brace was "lodged securely against his neck."
Paul Pelosi was stuck beneath the car for a while after breaking his collarbone in the incident. He was able to release himself and summon help. In 2011, he was ticketed twice, once for running a red light and once for driving while drifting over the centerline.
Paul married Nancy D'Alesandro, the daughter of a previous Baltimore mayor, six years after the deadly accident. She assumed his surname and was elected to Congress in 1987, eventually becoming the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Kamer did not specify which occurrences he was talking to. According to Kamer, a Jeep reportedly collided with Paul Pelosi's Porsche as he left a dinner party on Saturday night, resulting in his detention. Nancy Pelosi, who was apparently not in town at the time of the event, has made no public comments about it.
