A news release from the Suffolk County, New York, District Attorney's Office, a 30-year-old Queens man was indicted Friday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.
A guy from Queens is accused of raping a youngster he met on social media. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, Andrew Ramsaroop, 30, met the 13-year-old girl on Snapchat and started dating her.
Victim Reports Sexual Abuse to School Official
Ramsaroop has been charged with two charges of second-degree rape, one crime of inciting a sexual performance by a minor, and one offense of endangering the welfare of a child.
Legal Aid, which is representing Ramsaroop, did not reply to CNN's request for comment. Snapchat could not be reached for comment before the deadline. Ramsaroop reportedly developed a contact with the youngster over Snapchat in May, according to a news release from the Suffolk County Police Department, and the Suffolk County DA adds Ramsaroop allegedly participated in sexual activities with the kid on two different occasions.
On May 13, Ramsaroop reportedly met the adolescent in a mall, where he allegedly persuaded the victim and her companion to enter his car, as reported by a Suffolk County police statement, but they refused.
However, Ramsaroop reportedly met the 13-year-old in a playground in Suffolk County later that day when he was suspected of raping her, according to the statement. The victim reported the attack to a school supervisor, who then phoned the police.
In accordance with the DA's office, Ramsaroop was detained on May 20 and arraigned on Thursday. A Suffolk County Judge ordered him jailed on $300,000 cash, $600,000 bail, or a $2 million partly secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 27, CNN reported.

The attack came after a guy who viciously assaulted a lady on a New York City street before fleeing to Georgia was sentenced to ten years in prison. Rony Lopez Alvarez, 39, pulled the victim into a Queens alley in January 2020, then threatened to murder her before raping and robbing her.
He was apprehended in his homeland of Georgia and returned to New York City to face accusations. In April, Alvarez pled guilty to first-degree rape and was sentenced to ten years in prison with five years of post-release supervision in May.
Alvarez put a sharp item on the victim's back and threatened to break her neck if she made any noise. The lady attempted to fight back, but Alvarez punched her and stated, "I won't kill you if you do what I want," according to the New York Post.
He then stripped off her clothes and beat her before emptying her pockets and fleeing. After the assault, the woman was able to walk out of the alley, where she hailed down a bystander who dialed 9-1-1.
She was rushed to the hospital, where DNA from a rape kit was gathered and eventually traced to Alvarez. Alvarez was discovered hiding in Forest Park, Georgia, where he was apprehended by the NYPD Special Victims Unit and the Clayton County Police Department before being brought to New York City to face charges, as per Daily Mail.
