Over the weekend, a pride-month event at a Dallas LGBT club that invited children to perform alongside drag queens was welcomed with both indignation and encouragement.
On Saturday morning, the 'Drag The Kids To Pride' event was hosted at the Mr. Misster LGBT nightclub in North Dallas. Parents were urged to bring their children to the event, which included youngsters dancing with guys dressed in drag beneath a pink neon sign that said, "It's not going to lick itself."
'Drag The Kids to Pride' Sparks Outrage
Protesters were outraged when they arrived to picket the event, while the event's organizers and attendees justified the day as nothing more than a chance for individuals to celebrate who they are.
The contentious event occurs when arguments boil across the country about how gender identity and children should interact. Adults sat on stools around a long, narrow runway stage in the center of the room, according to photos and video from the event.
Drag queens in gowns and glittery leotards danced around the stage while parents sipped beverages with their children sat by their sides, at times urging the youngsters to stroll down the runway with them, according to Daily Mail. Protesters screamed, "Christ Is King" outside the location of the concert "Drag Your Kids To Pride," with others holding banners that said, "Stop grooming the youngsters" and "Stop exploiting kids," among other versions.
Protesters reportedly gathered in front of Mr. Misster at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and Reagan Street before being forced by Dallas police officers to move across Reagan to the sidewalk in front of the fire station, holding posters and upset that children were involved with the drag show.
One of the protesters initially noticed the flyer advertising the event near her home. She was in the bar after the event, holding a placard that read, "Stop grooming the kids." Many individuals responded angrily to the entire situation.
Protect Texas Kids attempted to claim in a statement that Dallas Police personnel had taken the youngsters from the drag show. The goal was to increase awareness that an event like this, a drag performance for kids, was taking place right in Dallas. We also hoped that by raising awareness, the event would be canceled or changed so that children would be unable to attend, as per Meaww.

Texas Urges To Ban Minors From Drag Shows
A Texas state representative revealed Monday his plan to pursue legislation prohibiting children from attending drag performances in the state. State Rep. Bryan Slaton, a Republican who represents a House seat just east of Dallas, stated in a news release that his proposed law comes after a video of youngsters watching a drag act at Mister Misster, a homosexual nightclub in North Dallas, went viral over the weekend.
A representative for Slaton's office told Fox News Digital that the state senator has had fruitful discussions about the idea with a number of his Republican colleagues and that he expects it to succeed when the Texas Legislature reconvenes.
