Philadelphia authorities tracked down and arrested two teenage murder suspects for the fatal shooting of bystanders on South Street.

Officials identified the two suspects as Quadir Dukes-Hill and Nahjee Whittington, who are both 18 years old after they were arrested in Virginia on Thursday. The two teenagers were taken into custody at an apartment building in Richmond by a team of U.S. Marshalls.

Fatal Shooting on South Street

One law enforcement source said that the apartment where the two suspects were hiding belonged to a friend who also may have had connections to Philadelphia. The arrest of the two teenagers came one day after the Philadelphia Police Department shared photographs of two individuals identified as third and fourth suspects in the mass shooting.

The fatal shooting resulted in the death of three people and officials noted that Dukes-Hill was facing murder charges in the shooting death of 24-year-old Alexis Quinn. On the other hand, Whittington, a Philadelphia resident, allegedly fired the shot that killed 22-year-old Kristopher Minners and injured another resident, as per Fox29.

Sources said that authorities found guns with the teens that are believed to be the same ones that were used in the incident on South Street. Earlier in the week, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and local authorities reported the arrests of 18-year-old Quran Garner and 34-year-old Rashaan Vereen, who are both believed to have been involved in the incident.

The South Street shooting is believed to have been a result of a fistfight between three men that escalated into a gunfight. The DA's office said that two of the people involved, Gregory Jackson and Micah Towns, were both licensed to carry. Authorities said that Towns was not currently being charged because he acted in self-defense.

Days after the incident, Mayor Jim Kenney called for Towns' arrest, saying that he "acted in a way that created a chain of events that caused the death of at least two innocent people and the wounding of several other residents in the area.

According to 6ABC, officials said that there were 11 people injured in the incident as police sources confirmed that Vereen was the man seen in one video picking up Jackson's gun and passing it off to someone wearing a blue hoodie.

Complicated Scenario

Homicide unit chief at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Joanne Pescatore, said that based on surveillance video, the two teenage suspects started shooting into the crowd after hearing gunfire.

Pescatore added that Garner was captured on video shooting back toward the area where the initial confrontation took place between Jackson and Towns. The unit chief then detailed what authorities believe is the series of events that took place in the shooting that led to the deaths of the victims.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the initial fight between Jackson, Vereen, and Towns. But in a press conference, they revealed that Towns, similar to Vereen, was also involved in boxing though they were unsure if that actually played a role in the Saturday shootout in South Street, NBC Philadelphia reported.
