The Golden State Warriors celebrated their latest NBA championship with their supporters in San Francisco.
Last week, the Warriors won the 2022 NBA Championship, their fourth NBA title since 2015, by beating the Boston Celtics in six games in their best-of-seven NBA Finals series. That led to a championship parade at Market Street, and Warriors fans went out cheering for the champs and sharing some fun moments. In fact, many fans waited for their favorite basketball stars as early as 5:00 a.m, according to media reports.
Hilarious Moments From the Warriors Trio
One fun highlight was a drop courtesy of Finals MVP Stephen Curry, but he did not drop another three-point shot this time. Instead, he did a mic drop that came after a "night night" gesture, per NBC Sports.
Steph Curry's Splash Brother Klay Thompson went off the bus and decided to get close to the energetic fans. The security fans surrounding Thompson could not stop the basketball superstar and the fans from sharing some fun moments.
Klay Thompson dropped one of his championship rings while high-fiving fans, and it nearly slid into the throng. Thompson was able to immediately retrieve the ring because of his reflexes. When the ring was safely returned, he gave it a quick kiss.
Klay also mistakenly knocked down an unsuspecting fan on the parade route. He looked to trip on the sidewalk, and his momentum propelled him into a textbook tackle of the unlucky woman in his path, as per an SF Gate report.
But, arguably, his most hilarious moment was when Thompson showed that his swagger was unaffected by any of these events. Klay concluded the day by performing a Michael Jackson dance move next to the Larry O'Brien trophy, including with crotch grab.
During the outdoor celebration, Draymond Green was asked by the NCBS team about his message to those who doubted him, and the Warriors forward, being the trash talker he is, gave an NSFW answer.
Aside from funny moments, there are also heartwarming scenes like when Juan Toscano-Anderson gave a young fan a memorable moment as he carried the boy over the fence to join him in the Warriors championship parade.
Porter Wants To Remain With The Warriors
Meanwhile, the Warriors will have to make some difficult choices this offseason about spending their limited resources on a handful of key free players.
On that list is Golden State's all-around big man, Otto Porter Jr., who has expressed a desire to remain with the organization but could command a salary that exceeds the luxury tax threshold.
Per Heavy, Porter stated in an end-of-season interview that he wants to return to Golden State to defend the championship that he helped the team win.
Porter believes that the Warriors could have one more championship run. "It would be amazing to be here with that group of guys again and do it all over again," he said.
Porter was instrumental in the Warriors' championship run, rising through the rotation to replace Kevon Looney in the starting lineup for the last three games of the NBA Finals. He averaged 8.2 points per game this season, making 37 percent of his 3-point attempts and snagging 5.7 rebounds each game.
Bringing him back for another season, on the other hand, could be challenging. According to C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors got a scoop on signing Porter last August and may only be able to get him back if Porter is prepared to take a substantial discount.
