A late-night sprint to the Kremlin by Vladimir Putin has raised fears that he is preparing a new broadcast address on the Ukraine war and relations with the West. On Saturday night, the video shows his Aurus limousine making a late-night run to his Moscow seat of power.
His Kremlin visit came directly after negotiations with Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko in Saint Petersburg, 440 miles away, during which Putin pledged to equip the Minsk dictator with sophisticated nuclear-capable weapons.
Russia Did Not Deny Alleged Vladimir Putin's Secret Meeting
Following the summit, Russian bombers using Belarus airspace bombarded Ukrainian towns, including Kyiv. Putin's spokesperson did not dispute the late-night sprint to the Kremlin but ruled out a crisis gathering of top officials as the reason. He also disputed that Putin would issue an emergency declaration.
Major remarks made by the Russian president in the Kremlin have before been recorded and then disseminated. One possibility is that he may have come to announce an intensification of hostilities, which would have been the reason for his visit.
It is widely thought that his nighttime address, which signaled the beginning of his "special military operation" in Ukraine on February 24, was pre-recorded. Putin doesn't live in the Kremlin; instead, he has an official house outside of the city, and during the summer, he typically bases himself in Sochi on the Black Sea.
As a result, Peskov was forced to respond when he saw his entourage enter the Kremlin late on a Saturday night. This unusual sight quickly sparked headlines on social media. Official from Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko voiced worry that the visit implied a fresh stance from Putin on the conflict, Daily Mail reported.
Ex-CIA Agent: Vladimir Putin Could be Ousted
After denying for weeks that he had any plans to invade, Putin on February 24 unveiled what Russia calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine. Many people think that the announcement was pre-recorded.
Russian missiles struck a residential building and kindergarten in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, hours after the Kremlin dash. As world leaders convened in Europe to negotiate more measures against Moscow, US President Joe Biden denounced the strikes as "barbarism."
In the early hours of Sunday, downtown Kyiv was shaken by up to four explosions, the city's first such attack in weeks. Later in the day, there were two additional explosions heard on the city's southern borders.
"The Russians hit Kyiv again. Missiles damaged an apartment building and a kindergarten," claimed Andriy Yermak, head of Volodymyr Zelensky's administration in Ukraine.
Ukraine's police chief, Ihor Klymenko, said on national television that five people had been hurt; however, Ukrainian police later reported that one person had died. After intense opposition halted Russian advances in the early stages of the conflict, life in Kyiv had begun to return to normal.
There haven't been any significant attacks on Kyiv since early June, despite the frequent sounding of air raid sirens around the city. Meanwhile, during the G7 conference in Germany, Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a joke about Putin with other international leaders.
The Prime Minister and his Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeau, spoke about the Russian President and his history of being photographed naked. Johnson questioned if they should keep their suitcoats on as the sun beamed down on Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps, as per Express.
An ex-CIA agent claimed that Vladimir Putin might be deposed by a murderous conspiracy orchestrated by his closest associates. Former Moscow station head Daniel Hoffman believes Putin's power will be jeopardized if the conflict in Ukraine fails, with a conspiracy to depose him possibly lethal.
"These individuals who are going to do it are going to be so covert about it so that Putin doesn't discover them and murder them first," Hoffman told the Daily Beast. Speculation over the leader's health continues, with several stories saying the Russian leader is battling a range of ailments, including blood cancer and Parkinson's.
Putin has previously been photographed during a parade with his legs wrapped with a huge blanket, and he looked to shiver violently at a meeting with Belarusian tyrant Alexander Lukashenko. But Hoffman feels there are three essential personalities to keep an eye on if Russia's president is removed, according to The Sun.
