NBA fans are tuned into the major career decisions of the league's top guards, Kyrie Irving and John Wall, on which teams they will join in the upcoming 2022-2023 season.

According to Hoops Rumors, Irving has decided to opt into his contract for the next season. The information came from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

By exercising the $36.9MM option, Irving is bypassing multiple opt-in-and-trade scenarios to fulfill his four-year commitment to the Nets and Kevin Durant, according to Charania.

Irving is entering the final year of his four-year, $136.5MM deal.

Irving stated: "Normal people keep the world going, but those who dare to be different lead us into tomorrow. I've made my decision to opt-in. See you in the fall. A11even."

Kyrie Irving is now eligible for trades and extensions as a result of exercising his option. However, it doesn't appear that each of these situations is related to the opt-in. Up to June 30 of the following year, the seven-time All-Star will still be able to extend his contract and add up to four more years to it.

Kyrie Drama May Not End Soon

Irving would lose his right to be traded for the following six months if he signed a contract longer than two years; similarly, if he were traded, he would lose his ability to sign a contract longer than two years for the following six months.

Irving's contract option has a basic value of approximately $36.5 million, but the cap hit is $36.9 million owing to expected incentives, and it could increase to $37.7 million if he fulfills all of his incentives.

The opt-in eliminates Irving's option to accept a significant pay cut and join a different team, like the Lakers, for the mid-level provision.

Kyrie is currently set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023, and it is more likely for him to become a trade target next year if he and the Nets fail to strike a contract extension, meaning the drama surrounding the superstar guard will not cease any time soon.

Wall Targets To Join The Clippers

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets' odd run with John Wall will end soon.

Insiders told Yahoo Sports that the Rockets have agreed to buy out Wall's huge contract's final year, allowing the five-time All-Star to reboot his career with a better team.

Tuesday's meeting between Wall's agent Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, and Rockets general manager Rafael Stone is reportedly to formalize the agreements.

According to insiders, Wall is anticipated to return almost $7 million in pay before entering the open market. Before the buyout, he exercised his $47.4 million player option. Hence, he will become one of the top free agents in the 2022 class.

NBA sources claimed Wall plans to join the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers have been looking for a more orthodox point guard to complement Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and it appears that Wall is the best candidate for the position. When he was at his best, Wall was one of the NBA's top athletes and floor leaders who could reinforce Leonard and George's wing offense, according to CBS Sports.

For the entire 2021-22 season, the Rockets paid a healthy John Wall $44.3 million to sit on the bench. Since the start of the 2018 calendar year, Wall has played less than half a season.
