Meghan Markle has claimed that growing up as an only child was a feeling, not a truth, following her half-sister Samantha's accusation of lying about her 'rags to riches' childhood in new court filings.
In legal filings filed in Florida, the Duchess' attorneys stated their case in her continuing spat with half-sister Samantha.
Meghan Markle Defends Telling Oprah She Was an Only Child
Samantha has filed a lawsuit against Meghan for allegedly peddling a rags-to-riches narrative on Oprah, as well as remarks in Finding Freedom, a book published by Meghan's close friend Omid Scobie. In the most recent wave of filings, Meghan's attorneys refute Samantha's argument that Meghan lied when she said she grew up as an only child, arguing that is how she feels despite having two half-siblings.
She also dismisses Samantha's objections about content in Omid Scobie's book Finding Freedom, claiming Meghan cannot be held responsible because she did not author the book. Samantha Markle, Meghan's father's daughter, claimed in a court declaration that the Duchess of Sussex conducted a premeditated attempt to damage her and her father's image.
Samantha Markle alleges her sister attempted to undermine their credibility so they could not intervene with or refute the defendant's bogus narrative and fairy tale life story. She also claims Meghan lied when she stated she 'elevated herself from virtual poverty and had to work low-paying jobs since she was 13 to make ends meet.

Samantha Blasts Meghan Markle's 'Finding Freedom' Book
Meanwhile, Samantha, 57, launched an astonishing attack on her sister's friend and biographer Omid Scobie, calling 'Finding Freedom' a book of lies. Meghan Markle's lawyer previously responded to the lawsuit, claiming it was baseless and that they would give it "the minimum attention necessary." Scobie also dismissed the claims, according to Daily Mail.
Samantha Markle sued Meghan for $75,000 in March, saying that Meghan's assertion that she grew up as an only child was defamatory since Meghan represented her half-sister as a scumbag who wanted to profit from having a famous sister.
She also claims that a biography written by someone other than Meghan or Prince Harry has caused her humiliation, disgrace, and contempt on a global scale, according to Cosmopolitan. The Sussexes were not engaged in the novel, according to the authors, Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, as per Fox News.
Samantha initially contends that she can deny Meghan lived up as an only child, according to legal papers given to a Florida court by the Duchess' legal team. This impression, however, is fundamentally unfalsifiable. According to the legal filings, Meghan's remark that she grew up as an only child was certainly not intended to be a declaration of objective fact that she had no genetic siblings or half-siblings.
The Duchess's legal team has already requested that the case be dismissed. In their most recent court filing, they say that Meghan cannot be sued over Finding Freedom since she did not author it. In March, Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley attorney Michael Kump remarked of the action. This unfounded and ludicrous litigation is merely a continuation of a history of unsettling behavior, The Sun reported.
