A German Minister remarked that a one-sided view of Russia in the Ukraine crisis would return to haunt Europe. An improved and long-lasting European security framework could have been created by integrating the Soviet Union, but this was not done.
Europe Loses Opportunity for Proper Security
One hypothesis is that the US and NATO's obsession with boxing in Moscow has led to an unstable world where a stronger Russia is on the rise. Many German politicians who oppose Berlin's attitude to Moscow are Winfried Hermann, the Minister of Transportation, reported RT.
He contends that 30 years of war and other such events should not be used to portray Russia as malevolent and aggressive, enforcing its objectives solely through military force. It was a claim made in a supposed thesis paper about the conflict that was made available online by the German Press Agency (DPA), noted Azerbaycan 24.
Compared to Washington's countless interventions around the world, they were not successful and, in the name of democracy and peace, they devastated several countries to install a new government.
Furthermore, the Green politician made it quite evident that after the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia, too, had engaged in several terrible, unlawful conflicts. Implying that when NATO joined the US in multiple violent military missions, the US was not acting alone in its atrocities, citing Mass News.
NATO, the US Have Doomed Itself
Hermann describes how the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact might have sparked the start of world peace. The opportunity for a security architecture that includes disarmament and arms control was lost.
The interests of Russia and the former Soviet Union should have been taken into consideration. It was shamefully spent in favor of NATO's continued eastward expansion. Stressed that regardless of war crimes committed, Russia must be part of the solution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
German Leaders Disagree With Hermann
Hans-Ulrich Rülke, the leader of the Local Free Democratic Party in parliament, fiercely referred to the green politician as a Putin sympathizer.
The words infuriated Rülke, who requested that Baden-Württemberg Premier Winfried Kretschmann (also of the Greens) take action to correct them and stop harming the state's prestige. It is an isolated reaction by the Minister of Transportation, joining many German politicians who want an even approach with the Kremlin.
The Minister of Transportation's only response joins other German politicians who want a level relationship with the Kremlin.
Michael Kretschmer, the prime minister of Saxony, is another leader pushing for improved ties with Moscow to avoid harming German interests. This crisis should be resolved diplomatically rather than by isolating Russia.
Europe cannot afford it if the Kremlin ignores Europe and turns its attention to China in the east. Berlin joining sanctions has caused a backlash in reduced gas supplies, causing a dark age in German that is causing havoc in the EU's most prosperous state.
Transport Minister Winfried Hermann called a one-sided view of Russia in the Ukraine crisis as a villain to box out will be a big mistake for Europe, pushed by Washington's hand.
