Brooklyn (24-26) managed to turn around their poor start to the season and now hold the No. 7 playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. The Nets won four of their last five games, and a win on Thursday would be their third straight victory.
Coming off a 105-89 rout of the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday, Brooklyn has the opportunity to head into the All-Star break on a hot streak.
"A veteran ballclub understands that the games right before the break are important because you're planning vacations, or planning to go to All-Star weekend, and sometimes the game becomes secondary," Nets coach Jason Kidd said, via ESPN. "A lot of the guys, for the most part, didn't play a lot of minutes, so we'll see what happens (in Chicago)."
Chicago, meanwhile, has managed again to overcome the loss of Derrick Rose and sit No. 4 in the East with a 26-25 record. The Bulls go into Thursday's contest with two consecutive wins under their belt and center Joakim Noah playing at an All-Star level.
Noah is averaging 15.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists over Chicago's last four games, according to ESPN, and is a big reason the Bulls remain in playoff contention.
"I think the big thing is he's healthy. He's gotten into rhythm," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I think missing training camp set him back offensively. Defensively he's been terrific all year."
