Police officials released body camera footage of the arrest of former NFL star Marshawn Lynch that showed a Las Vegas Police Department officer pulling the athlete out of his car for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The former running back could be heard asking the police, "What's the problem?" and noted that "everything is understandable" but did not get out of the car after the officers' requests. The officer whose body camera footage was released said that if Lynch did not get out of his car he would be charged with obstructing an investigation.

Shortly after the remark, another officer pulled Lunch out of the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs while telling him that he was indeed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The video showed that the ex-NFL star was asleep at the wheel, smelled of alcohol, and was in what officers said was "undrivable condition." The front driver's side tire was also found to be off the car.
Police officers stopped the suspect at Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue and "determined that Lunch was impaired and conducted an arrest." The ex-NFL star's bail was set at $3,381 based on police records, as per Fox News.
Lynch was also cited for a failure to refuse/surrender, a failure to drive in a travel lane and the vehicle he was driving was not registered, said police. In a previous case in 2012, the suspect was also arrested for DUI in Oakland, California. Now, he is due in Las Vegas Municipal Court on Dec. 7.

The ex-NFL player's attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, responded in a statement that Lynch's car "was safely parked and not in operation" when police arrived early Tuesday. They added that driving while intoxicated charge will not stick in court against the athlete.
According to ESPN, the statement said, "Marshawn was not pulled over for a DUI. We are confident that when all evidence is presented, this will not be a DUI under Nevada law." The arresting officer, identified as Kevin Barker, reported that Lynch's black 2020 Shelby GT500's rear driver's side and front passenger wheels were badly damaged.
Driving Under the Influence
The report of the arrest also said that investigators found markings suggesting the vehicle "hit sidewalk areas" before stopping in an industrial section of downtown Las Vegas not far from Main Street. It added that the driver was asleep behind the wheel with the driver's door open leaning back in the seat.
The arrest on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. came the morning after the Seattle Seahawks, the team for which Lynch played most of his 12 NFL seasons, announced that the ex-NFL star had been hired as a broadcast special correspondent.
The 36-year-old is also a five-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro selection who played in the NFL from 2007 to 2019 with the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, and Oakland Raiders. He is a native of Oakland and he left the Raiders before the team relocated in 2020 to Las Vegas and finished his career in Seattle, USA Today reported.
