Six Flags Great America Shooting: Chilling Video Shows People Screaming After Suspect Opens Fire at Amusement Park in Illinois

A gunshot outside Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, on Sunday evening injured three individuals and resulted in a heavy police presence and a chaotic situation inside the amusement park.

A gunshot at an amusement park north of Chicago injured three people late Sunday.

According to a park official, three persons were injured in a parking lot outside Six Flags Great America in Gurnee when bullets were fired from a car. The park is located approximately 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Chicago. The car drove away instantly. Other information was not supplied.

Six Flags Great America Shooting Creates Chaos, Fear

As per Spokeswoman, two of the injured were sent to a hospital for examination and one declined treatment. Laurie Walker and her daughter, Grace, were inside the park when the shooting occurred, around 7:50 pm, Walker spotted individuals sprinting while waiting in line for an attraction.

Walker and her kid scaled two fences to get a phone number where she could call her husband. Walker subsequently told WGN that she was able to exit the park. Gurnee was in Lake County, roughly 20 miles north of Highland Park, where seven people were killed in a July Fourth parade shooting.

The event caused commotion and uncertainty, with social media footage showing parkgoers scrambling to shelter in place or hide. Several authorities, including the Illinois State Police, responded. Six Flags Great America is located in Gurnee, a municipality in the Chicago metropolitan region. The shooting is being investigated by the Gurnee Police Department, ABC News reported.

"I assumed there were fireworks immediately soon,Then we noticed hundreds of people fleeing. It was terrifying, but we're fine." Charlie Donda and his companions remarked as they hurried away from the danger.  No arrests have been made.

Chicago Records 6 Deaths, 32 Injuries in Weekend Shootings

As reported by Chicago police, six people were murdered and at least 32 others were injured in gunshots around the city this weekend, including a 19-year-old woman. A 32-year-old male was killed after being shot after a verbal confrontation in the 1100 block of North Ridgeway.

According to authorities, the guy got into an altercation with another person, who then drew out a firearm and fired fire, wounding the victim in the leg. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was declared dead, according to Chicago police.

There are no suspects in custody, and the inquiry is still ongoing. An unknown suspect driving past the scene shot a group of five teenagers just after midnight Sunday in the 1800 block of West 78th Street. A 19-year-old lady was shot in the chest and subsequently pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to NBC.
