Indiana school authorities reported that three students from Indiana State University (ISU) lost their lives during a single-vehicle car crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.
There were five people reportedly inside the car, including multiple ISU football players, when it struck a tree and went up in flames at around 1:34 a.m., said the Vigo County Sheriff's Office. The Indiana State Football posted on their Twitter account, expressing their sympathies for the families of the victims.

It was found that two of the passengers survived and were immediately transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said that the driver and the other two passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
On Sunday, ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis released a statement saying that the incident was a "terrible tragedy." The incident comes as a women's soccer match between ISU and Northern Illinois University was scheduled for Sunday afternoon but has now been postponed, as per Fox News.
State officials noted that the deadly crash took place in Riley, Indiana, which was roughly 10 miles southeast of ISU's campus. Police have not yet released the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives in the incident.
According to WTHR, a football coach at ISU, Mike Bath, also posted on Twitter that the incident was "heartbreaking" and urged others to pray for the families and friends of the young victims. The ISU also has counseling services that are available for students, faculty, and staff.
In a similar incident, five people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Saturday evening in Michigan. The incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Marcellus Highway and Decatur Road in Volinia Township.
An Elkhart woman stopped at a stop sign, but when she drove into the intersection, she struck a car driven by a man from Marcellus, said the sheriff's office. Another woman that was at the intersection at the time was then hit by the two cars.
Fatal Vehicular Accidents
The third vehicle hit two passengers in the car, deputies said, and everyone involved was taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities said that the use of seat belts was not available at the time and noted that alcohol did not seem to be a factor, WWMT reported.
In Miami, five people under the age of 25 died in a car crash on Early Saturday morning in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The incident occurred when a driver traveling the wrong way collided with another vehicle head-on, said Florida Highway Patrol, Lieutenant Alex Camacho.
Authorities said that at approximately 4:30 a.m., a silver Infinity sedan traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes hit a gray Honda sedan. Camacho noted that there were four women and a man between the ages of 18 to 25 in the Honda.
The official revealed that all five individuals died at the scene as a result of the collision, noting that the wrong-way driver, who was an adult male, was airlifted to Ryder Trauma with serious injuries, CNN reported.
