It has been revealed that after departing the White House, Donald Trump left a nice note for Joe Biden, as aides provided the list of mayhem that culminated in this week's Mar-a-Lago raid.
According to sources and notes outlining the last four days of Trump's administration, when newly elected President Joe Biden entered the Oval Office, he discovered a letter from his predecessor, as per New York Times.
Biden Said Trump Letter Was "More Gracious" Than Expected
Trump allegedly handwrote the letter on two full pages, with Biden telling an assistant that the former president was more generous in the letter than he had anticipated.
The letter's contents have not been released, but it will be one of the first items President Joe Biden must turn up to the National Archives when he departs the White House. According to aides, it was the same method that got Donald Trump in hot water with the FBI, when attempts by the National Archive to collect a note Barack Obama had left for Trump, as well as contact with Kim Jong Un, spurred an investigation into the removal of sensitive information.
It's a procedure that has placed Donald Trump in the middle of an FBI investigation, following a sequence of gaffes that failed to turn over two dozen boxes of records, prompting a raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate. Donald Trump has refuted all claims of impropriety and has stated his intention to sue. Those who talked to the Times said that the event was the result of poor organization among Trump's employees, rather than any malicious attempt to exploit confidential information.
According to sources, in his haste to depart the White House, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows informed staff that he would guarantee the administration complied with the requirements requiring the government to leave the materials for the National Archive.
They did observe, however, that Donald Trump appeared more interested in "pushing through last-minute pardons" as he ignored the power transition while reiterating unsubstantiated accusations that the 2020 presidential race was stolen from him. Although the White House Counsel's Office informed Meadows that the two dozen boxes, which included 'highly confidential' documents and letters from Korean leader Kim Jong-un, needed to be handed in, they ended up in Mar-a-Lago instead.
Former Spokesman For Trump Confirmed The Letter
Every document generated in the Oval Office, according to the Presidential Records Act, effectively belongs to taxpayers and must be handed to the National Archives. Former officials told the Times that Donald McGahn, Trump's first White House Counsel, developed a system for handling information and gave legal lectures to staff members.
They also stated that multiple discussions were had following the 2020 defeat about sending someone to recover the records that had accumulated in Trump's estate, Daily Mail. At the time, a Trump White House official verified the message but declined to comment. The letter was then referred to as "gracious" by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who indicated the administration planned to keep it secret.
Psaki said in a February interview that she was in the Oval Office when Biden discovered the memo in the Resolute Desk. She said the obvious! According to the Rob Lowe show, the 46th president read the letter to himself at the time and did not expound on what it stated to advisers.
When asked what he wrote in the letter, Trump said one month later on The Truth with Lisa Boothe podcast, "Basically, I wish him luck and, you know, it was a couple of pages long and it was from the heart because I want to see him do well. Look, he's there. It was a rigged election, an election that you know I would never concede, and by the way, Hillary Clinton said he should never concede," according to Washington Examiner.
