Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday expressed concern that there would be riots in the streets if former President Trump is charged with handling secret documents discovered during an FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago residence.
Graham warned former South Carolina congressman Trey Gowdy, who currently broadcasts Fox News' Sunday Night in America, that after the Clinton catastrophe, there will be riots in the streets if Donald Trump is charged with handling secret material.
Graham Expresses Concern Over FBI's Biased Treatment
Gowdy served as the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which investigated the 2012 terrorist attacks in Libya that claimed the lives of four Americans and revealed a secret email server used by Clinton. Graham expressed worry that there is a double standard applied to Trump and reiterated his threat of rioting in response to the Georgia special grand jury's investigation into attempts by Donald Trump and his allies to rig the state's 2020 election results.
In connection with phone calls made to Georgia election officials intending to alter the state's election results, Graham has been subpoenaed in that investigation. On Sunday, the senator from South Carolina also addressed allegations that the FBI was instructed to back off its inquiry into Hunter Biden's laptop to keep news about the president's son out of the public eye before the 2020 election, as per The Hill.
The senator voiced worry about how the law is applied in politics, particularly concerning conservative Republicans, addressing the FBI. if Trumps gets charged, the senator warned again that there would be riots, according to Fox News. Then-FBI Director James Comey slammed Clinton during the 2016 presidential race, calling her handling of confidential information extremely reckless, but she was not charged for using a private email server.

Trump Mar-a-Lago Raid
After the FBI searched Trump's Mar-a-Lago private club in Florida earlier this month, escalating what has been revealed to be a months-long back-and-forth in which the federal government has sought to recover documents, including some that have been deemed classified, supporters of Trump have drawn comparisons to the Clinton case..
An unsealed warrant revealed that the former president is being looked at for suspected espionage act violations and justice obstruction. A supporting affidavit with numerous redactions stated there is probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found and that the government is conducting a criminal investigation concerning the improper removal and storage of classified information in unauthorized spaces, as well as the unlawful concealment or removal of government records.
Donald Trump has denied any impropriety and asserts that he declassified every document kept at Mar-a-Lago after he left office. He claimed on Truth Social on Sunday that the DOJ and FBI are engaging in election interference at the highest and most dishonest level our Country has ever seen. This applies to both the 2018 midterm elections and the 2024 presidential election.
It's unclear whether the jumble of items discovered at Mar-a-Lago includes the Crossfire Hurricane inquiry records that Donald Trump claimed to have released just before he left office. His legal team is looking for a special master to look over the records that were taken from his home. According to a filing made on Saturday, a federal judge in Florida declared the court's preliminary intent to appoint a special master to examine the records, Washington examiner reported.
