"Thor" star Tom Hiddleston set the record straight as to whether he will be a cast member in the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 7".
In an interview with Time Out London, Hiddleston was asked if the rumors were correct about the "Start Wars" production offering him a role in J.J. Abrams' newest flick.
"Well, that hasn't happened yet. It'd be very flattering, of course. I did talk to Ewan about it once," Hiddleston told Timeout. "When they asked if he wanted to be Obi-Wan Kenobi he said: 'Are you joking? Of course!' But his experience didn't live up to the promise. Besides, I imagine they're looking for people who don't have an association elsewhere. The audience need to believe in the character, rather than saying, 'Oh look, Loki with a lightsaber!'"
Hiddleston isn't the only actor who has been associated with the upcoming film. Alex Pettyfer talked to ComingSoon.net to address the rumors of his connection to "Star Wars Episode 7".
"If I was a part of 'Star Wars,' I don't know if I would speak on set," Pettyfer told Coming Soon. "I'm more of a fanboy."
Pettyfer added he isn't too interested in taking on a role in the upcoming "Star Wars" films, but would be among the first to go see the film in theaters.
"Those things, it's very weird for me, like I sometimes would prefer not to be a part of it, not in any disregard or disrespect, just because I'm such a lover of film -- to watch something like that is much more enjoyable for me," Pettyfer told Coming Soon.
According to Hitfix, "Star Wars Episode 7" production will begin filming in mid-May and end by September.
"Most principal casting on the film is complete, with many announcements still to come," HitFix reports. "While [J.J.] Abrams had mentioned May during the TCA press tour and there had been speculation about the summer date, the full production schedule was finally confirmed for us."
