Vice President Kamala Harris backed President Biden's remarks that MAGA Republicans are a threat to the nation and said she would proudly run alongside him again if he seeks re-election.
She supported President Joe Biden's recent description of MAGA, or the Make America Great Again campaign led by former President Donald Trump, as a growing threat that imperils the nation's political institutions.
Kamala Harris Vows To "Proudly" Run with Biden in 2024
Days after a politically explosive primetime address in which he described 'MAGA' political forces as a threat to American democratic norms, President Joe Biden attacked Trumpies and MAGA Republicans during two Midwest campaign events last week.
On Sunday, the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, former New York Governor George Pataki said in an interview on WABC 770 AM that Joe Biden was under fire for acting like the divider in chief and wasn't encouraging unity with his politically charged remarks.
The Republican - who was in office during the attacks - stated that the nation is now more fragmented than ever. While claiming that the president has a track record of working across party lines, Harris said that the current political environment requires a unified front against extremists.
Given that Sunday marks the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Harris was asked to compare the external and internal terror risks. She described them as different but equally serious, as per New York Post. The White House maintains that the president has not been notified about the operation and has not talked about it.
Since the FBI raided Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida last month, there have been concerns about the former president's potential 2024 run and the perception that a Democrat president's administration is investigating a political rival. When asked if Biden intended to run again after the midterm elections in November, Harris responded, "Listen, the president has been pretty clear that he intends to run again."
The endorsement of President Joe Biden by the California Democrat comes as other Democrats in his party voice worries about his probable candidacy, most notably his old age. Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin's lieutenant governor, and a left-leaning Senate contender declined to join Joe Biden for a Labor Day address in Milwaukee.
The president will be 81 years old on election day in 2024, beating the previous record. If the Justice Department decides to charge Trump if its investigation finds that he unlawfully handled confidential material in violation of federal law, it will be another topic for Biden and Harris to deal with on the campaign trail in the future.
Federal charges will not likely prevent Donald Trump from running for office, according to political analysts. But given the growing number of GOP allegations that his officials are using the Justice Department as a weapon against his main electoral rival, it might cause Biden some trouble.
VP Declines To Comment if Democrats Should Help Election Deniers
Kamala Harris chose not to comment on Sunday when asked whether the government's future charges against the former president should take these issues into account. Later, when questioned if accusing Trump would be too polarizing, she did imply that she supported cries for justice, according to Daily Mail.
Since news outlets' reviews of FEC reports have revealed that the party is actively engaged in efforts to support far-right candidates against more moderate Republicans in primary elections across the nation, Democrats, particularly the party's House of Representatives campaign arm, has come under intense fire.
One apparent example is the Michigan Republican Congressman Peter Meijer, who favors impeachment, and lost his primary after the DCCC paid $400,000 on commercials supporting his rival John Gibbs, who has claimed that the 2020 race was rigged.
She wouldn't even answer if she would use the same approach if she were competing against a Republican who had backed Donald Trump's impeachment in a congressional election, Independent reported.
