Louisville (19-4) bounced back from a 69-66 loss to Cincinnati on Jan. 30 by stringing together two straight wins, including a 77-62 victory on Wednesday over Houston. With March around the corner, every win is becoming critical for the No. 13 Cardinals.
"With Cincinnati losing (to SMU on Saturday), the race has tightened up," Louisville coach Rick Pitino said, via the Associated Press. "The good thing about this team is that they never look by an opponent. They (take) care of business each game out in terms of effort and preparation. That's one of our strong suits."
Senior guard Russ Smith leads the team in scoring with 18.3 points per game, and sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell has a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game while adding 12.6 points each contest.
Temple (6-16), meanwhile, continues to struggle this season. Despite the unranked Owls having lost four of their last five games, Pitino doesn't want his team underestimating them.
"This is a very dangerous offensive basketball team," Pitino said. "I don't think there's another team that has four 14-point scorers. ... They're a very dangerous basketball team that can put a lot of points up on the board."
