More than half of the missiles and drones fired by Russia on Tuesday, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, were shot down.
Zelensky mentioned in his daily video speech that 20 of the 28 missiles fired on Tuesday morning were destroyed. He thanked one soldier, Dmytro Shumskyi, for bringing down the twin towers.
Zelensky Asks For Air Defense
The power supply and communications have reportedly been restored in the majority of the affected cities and villages, according to the president of Ukraine. President Zelensky stated that on Wednesday, Ukraine would meet with its allies in Germany to discuss its military requirements, as per CNN.
Zelensky requested UN peacekeepers on the Belarusian border and called on allies to offer air defense as Russia continued to strike Ukraine on Tuesday. In response to Russia's bombing of Ukrainian cities on Monday, the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada, collectively known as the Group of Seven, convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday.
The US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada, collectively known as the Group of Seven, met in an emergency session on Tuesday in response to Russia's bombardment of Ukrainian cities on Monday. Meanwhile, Zelensky asserted on Tuesday that the strikes were a component of the beleaguered Kremlin leader's terrorist rush to frighten Ukraine's supporters. Air raid sirens continued to sound as Russian missiles struck power plants in the districts of Vinnitsya and Lviv.
In Zaporizhzhia, 12 missiles struck public buildings throughout the city, resulting in at least one fatality. Before a missile impacted Kyiv, air defenses shot it down at least once. Additionally, the president of Ukraine requested that foreign monitors be stationed on Ukraine's northern border with Belarus.
Russia Continues Bombing Poland's Border
Thousands of Russian troops will be hosted by Ukraine's northern neighbor, which is ruled by Kremlin ally Alexander Lukashenko, as it did in the weeks before Russia's initial invasion in February. The G7 urged Lukashenko to "stop aiding the Russian campaign of aggression by allowing Russian armed troops to utilize Belarusian territory and by providing support to the Russian military" instead of responding to Zelensky's plea for an international force.
Zelensky also called for the Group of Seven to further isolate Vladimir Putin while applauding the West for its eighth round of sanctions against Moscow, according to New York Post.
While this is happening, Russian missiles are striking targets roughly 40 kilometers from the border with Poland as Putin's ruthless bombing campaign enters its second day. According to a Telegram message by the city's mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, there were three explosions that left 30% of the city's people without electricity.
This occurs less than 24 hours after the Putin administration launched deadly missiles at Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least 19 people. President Zelensky has denounced these attacks and urged Western leaders to do more to protect the besieged country, The Sun reported.
