A heroin dealer busted in connection to Philip Seymour Hoffman after his fatal overdose has been granted bail, the New York Daily News reports.
Robert Vineberg, 57, is a jazz musician suspected for dealing drugs to Hoffman. A Manhattan Supreme Court judge set his bail at bail of $200,000 bond or $40,000 cash.
Vineberg's lawyer Edward Kratt claimed his client is a heroin addict who needs medical help, but the judge didn't buy his logic, according to the Daily News.
"If he has an incessant, uncontrolled heroin addiction, then lying around with 300 bags of heroin, he would be dead," Justice Edward McLaughlin said. "If he has no job that produces income and has $1,500 or $1,300 in cash, you draw your own conclusions."
Hoffman, 46, died on Feb. 2 of an alleged heroin overdose. The actor was reportedly found with a needle in his arm. Friends and family gathered at a New York City church for the funeral on Feb. 7. Hoffman's longtime girlfriend Mimi O'Donnell and their three children, 10-year-old son Cooper, 7-year-old daughter Tallulah and 5-year-old daughter Willa, were all in attendance.
"Catching Fire" actress Jena Malone posted a touching tribute on her Instagram account to honor the late actor:
"There won't ever be enough flowers in the world to shower you with once you are lost to me. But why wait for separation to herald the beauty in the world. So much beauty in the world it's blinding. And can be paralyzing. It can be terrifying. And yet we wake up each day and live. And keep living. In fear, in love , in madness. We keep living. And then one day we don't wake up. I don't want to wait for that day to bring you flowers.
"I want you to know I love you today. That you inspire me. That I am here for you. Cause maybe you haven't been reminded of your beauty in a long time. And all it takes is one person to reach out and be a mirror. Can we all just be a mirror and go out of our way everyday to support the human heart. That can go blind from too much beauty. Can we just try? #RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman."
