Tulsi Gabbard, who previously sought a Democratic Party nomination, announced that she is parting ways with the left, citing reasons such as anti-White racism and hostility to religious freedom.

The former US congresswoman from Hawaii made the announcement in a video posted on her Twitter account. Gabbard said that she could no longer stomach the direction that the "woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country."

She said that the Democratic Party was now under the complete control of an "elitist cabal of warmongers." Gabbard noted that the left is driven by "cowardly wokeness" and is only working to divide the people of the US by racializing every issue.

Gabbard added that Democrats undermine God-given freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and are hostile toward people of faith and spirituality. She said that they also demonize the police but protect criminals who believe in open borders.

The former congresswoman also claimed that the left was dragging the United States ever closer to nuclear war, referencing the currently tense situation with Russia. Gabbard said that she believes in a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, as per Yahoo News.

She continued to claim that today's Democratic Party does not work for the people and instead stands for a government that is of, by, and for the powerful elite. Gabbard, a 41-year-old US Army Reserve Officer, represented Hawaii's Second Congressional District from 2013 to 2021.

The lawmaker called on her fellow common sense, independent-minded Democrats to join her in separating from the party. She is known to have participated in several debates during the 2020 Democratic primary, sparring with fellow candidates over foreign policy.

According to Fox News, since her failed primary, Gabbard has grown increasingly estranged from the Democratic Party. She has now become a vocal critic of United States President Joe Biden. She has denounced the leader for "pouring fuel on the flames" of division in the country.

Separating with Democrats

In a statement on Tuesday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich praised Gabbard for separating with the Democratic Party. He argued that the former Hawaii congresswoman is one of the many Americans who traditionally have voted blue but now find the Democrats unrecognizable.

Gingrich said that Gabbard has always been something of an independent maverick and believes that she realized how really isolated she was from the party during her run for president. He referenced the huge drift of Latinos toward the Republican Party in recent months as they are driven by the weirder policies of the left.

Gabbard also touted herself as an Iraq War veteran and staked out a distinctly anti-interventionist foreign policy. During her campaign trail, she laid blame on US intervention in Latin America for the instability that triggered the surge in migration across the southern US border.

At the time that Gabbard ran for president, Hillary Clinton suggested during an interview that the former was being groomed to run as a third-party candidate and was a favorite of the Russians, CNN reported.
