Vice President Kamala Harris called Texas Governor Greg Abbott's Monday night drop-off of migrants outside her Naval Observatory mansion political theater.

Harris came on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' for a lighthearted interview with a presenter who seemed more interested with making his guest feel welcome than with asking tough questions, as is typical of late-night television programming.

Kamala Harris Condemns Bussing of Migrants

Seth Meyers inquired about the busloads of migrant families dropped off outside her DC residence, sent by the Texas governor as a means of drawing attention to the surge of migrants at the southern border. Blaming Donald Trump for the border situation would likely irritate conservative opponents, who observed a decrease in border crossings during the previous administration.

However, many individuals thought the severe measures used at the time, such as child separation, were too brutal. Harris concluded by pushing GOP governors to transfer migrants to Northeast cities and vacation islands, saying, "Participate in the solution because we are proposing answers, but instead, this gamesmanship with actual human beings who trust us."

This year has seen a record number of arrests at the US-Mexico border, owing in part to a flow of migrants seeking a better life, shelter, or asylum in the US. President Joe Biden appointed Harris as Border Czar, and she chose to focus on the core reasons of migrants fleeing Central American countries, but she has faced heavy criticism from right media for taking a hands-off approach, as per Mediaite.

Many of the lawmakers who spoke out in response to the vice president's statements represent districts in border states, which bear the brunt of the migratory problem. Biden appointed Harris as his administration's point person for border issues shortly after taking office, and she was swiftly dubbed the "border czar" by many outside the White House.

However, in over two years, Harris has only visited the border once and has continuously said that her duty is to investigate the core causes of migration in South and Central American countries.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's Migrant Surge Plan

In April, Abbott announced a plan to transport migrants to Washington, DC, New York City, and other Democratic strongholds. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis jumped on board, sending 50 migrants to the rich liberal island of Martha's Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts.

Biden appointed Harris with concentrating on the root causes of immigration, particularly from the Northern Triangle nations, has advocated for tackling larger immigration concerns, according to Daily Mail. Harris went on to label the action "political stunt," and she urged Abbott, Gov. Doug Duce, and Gov. Ron DeSantis, who flew two planes of immigrants to Martha's Vineyard last month, to quit messing with people's lives.

In May, Abbott declared that he would raise the border situation to President Joe Biden's attention and began giving free transportation to Washington. He began by dropping off immigrants a few blocks from the Capitol, but subsequently extended the busing operation to Chicago and New York City. The bus service is now in its sixth month.

The Republican governors have claimed that all three cities are sanctuary zones that have sworn for years to protect individuals living illegally in the United States, and that as a result, they should be prepared to receive immigration buses. The mayors have chastised Abbott and demanded federal and state aid to accommodate individuals who have arrived in their communities temporarily.

Since President Joe Biden entered office 20 months ago, the number of noncitizens apprehended after unlawfully entering the nation from Mexico has increased from less than 50,000 per month during the previous decade to between 150,000 and 230,000 per month, Washington Examiner reported.
