Mike Tyson was regarded as "The Baddest Man on The Planet" during the peak of his boxing career in the late 1980s. The Heavyweight champion was undefeated coming into this fight in Chicago.
His life and career as one of the greatest boxers ever are chronicled by former agent Rory Holloway in the book "Taming the Beast." One of the book's passages was tackled by BoxingScene, which tells about the moment when two of the greatest men in their respective sports almost engaged in a fight--when "Iron" Mike Tyson almost fought with "His Airness" Michael Jordan over a woman.
Fadeaway World reported that, in 1988, when Chicago Bears superstar Richard Dent held a birthday dinner bash in Chicago, notable personalities showed up. The guest list included Michael Jordan, who was the superstar of the Chicago Bulls. However, he had yet to win an NBA title at that time.
Iron Mike v. Air Mike
Holloway revealed how uneasy Michael Jordan was when he realized Mike Tyson was upset with him for dating the boxer's ex-girlfriend Robin Gibbs, an actress.
While enjoying a glass of Long Island Tea, Mike Tyson reveals his true feelings, Holloway shared. Mike can't take his eyes off Michael Jordan, who's at the other end of the table.
According to Rory, Tyson tells Jordan: "Hey man, you think I'm stupid? I know you f----d with my b---h.' 'I know you messed with her."
Holloway described Jordan at that moment as someone who looked like he had just seen a ghost, per a report from Marca. He further stated that Michael Jordan wanted to "get up and run" and showed no interest in engaging with Mike Tyson.
Then Mike turned to Mike Ditka and condemned him for spreading "racist" remarks. After that, Tyson asked Dent, Y'all scared of this damn white man, Richard? He ain't nobody. You gonna let him talk that way?"

So, promoter Don King tried to steer the conversation away from the elephant in the room. As Rory and a companion were holding Mike Tyson back, the enraged boxer threatened to beat Jordan in front of everyone.
"Jordan's dressed sharp as always and he can't get out of there fast enough," Holloway said, who also said that the evening had all the hallmarks of a circus.
Mike Tyson's threat is taken seriously by everyone, and Jordan was lucky to get away unscathed.
