The Duchess of Sussex bemoans her time on the NBC game show Deal or No Deal, where she and a host of other stunning young women vacantly smiled as people competed to win $1 million, in the most recent edition of her podcast Archetypes.
Meghan Markle Says She Felt Being 'Objectified'
Meghan Markle acknowledged that the position came with perks and union membership, making it a respectable opportunity for an aspiring actor. She admitted to being grateful for the experience but continued by criticizing the program for treating her like a bimbo and objectifying her.
More power to Markle, who appeared on the show in 2006, for choosing to capitalize on her attractiveness and showcase what she has. Her entry point was a lovely face.
She got her name out there and was able to move up the Hollywood food chain as a result of her time spent working as a briefcase girl. Soon after, she was cast as the show's star and went on to find the most eligible bachelor in the globe, as per New York Post.
Meanwhile, 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Claudia Jordan, who co-starred with Meghan Markle on the NBC game show in the middle of the 2000s, went off on the Duchess in a furious rant on Tuesday in response to comments she made about the show in the most recent episode of her podcast, Archetypes.
In 34 episodes of the NBC show's second season from 2006 to 2007, Meghan Markle said she left because she felt like she was being objectified, admitting that she was made to get frequent spray tans and wear a padded bra. 'Deal or No Deal' model Claudia, 49, criticized Meghan Markle for her remarks, saying the show never treated them like bimbos and helped create so many possibilities for them.
Claudia Jordan said, "we were never treated unfairly on Deal or No Deal. Because of that show, we were given a lot of opportunities."
The reality star continued, "If you just show up and don't interact then you'll just receive your check and not get much out of it. It's the kind of opportunity," she said, that is what you make it."
Jordan claimed she enjoyed working on 'Deal or No Dea'l and that it helped pave the way for a successful career, according to Daily Mail. Claudia Jordan clarified that she wasn't criticizing Meghan Markle but rather standing up for the TV program.
Meghan Markle's Podcast
Paris Hilton appeared as a guest on the most recent episode of Meghan Markle's podcast, which was just released today. The royal said she was appreciative of the money she made from Deal or No Deal while she tried to become a successful actress, referring to it as "a short stint" to pay the bills, but she did not like "how it made her feel, which was not smart."
There were times on the Deal or No Deal set when she thought back to her days as an intern at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She recalled riding in the same motorcade as the secretary of the Treasury at the time and being praised mostly for her brain.
She said, "I want our daughter to aim a little higher. Yes, I want Lili to take pleasure in her intelligence and desire to pursue an education." Meghan Markle admitted to her audience that she was concerned before the taping of the interview with Paris Hilton, stating, "I've been the most nervous about this one."
In addition, Meghan Markle acknowledged that she had previously judged Hilton, telling the audience, "I'm embarrassed to confess it, I had a judgment about Paris. And I dislike being judged because it makes me feel bad."
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have agreed to a three-year podcast deal with the streaming giant for between $15 million and $18 million. The couple also has a $100 million Netflix agreement, but their upcoming, contentious fly-on-the-wall documentary series still hasn't been released because the duo is supposedly "trying to tone down" its portrayal of the Royal Family, according to The Sun.
