Three states are stepping in to provide financial assistance to their residents in October while the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has stopped mailing stimulus checks to Americans nationwide.

According to GoBankingRates, state excess budgets have been used to distribute financial help to citizens of the state in the form of fresh stimulus payments or inflation relief checks.

Remaining October Stimulus Checks

Following in the footsteps of states like Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maine, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, which gave their respective populations refunds for stimulus spending or inflation relief, California, Hawaii, and Virginia are now following in the footsteps of those states.

The California Middle Class Tax Refund will automatically send a one-time payment to all qualified individuals between October and January 2023.

MCTR debit cards will be mailed between October 25 and December 10. 95% of refunds are scheduled to be issued by year's end, while 90% of direct deposits are anticipated to be made in October 2022.

If their total adjusted gross income is $150,000 or less, couples are eligible for up to $1,050. Single filers might receive up to $700 in tax relief, depending on their income. A one-time payment is given to qualifying taxpayers through Hawaii's Act 115 return.

The stimulus payment is $300 for single filers with incomes under $100,000 and $100 for individuals with incomes of $100,000 or more. Married couples who file their taxes jointly and earn less than $200,000 annually are qualified for $300.

Beginning in September, refunds will be issued and allocated in accordance with the order in which individual income tax returns for 2021 were submitted.

For taxpayers who owing money in taxes in 2021, Virginia will provide one-time tax refunds of $250 for single filers and $500 for joint filers. Residents who filed their taxes by September 5 and meet the other requirements can postpone their payments until October 31. According to MassLive, stimulus checks will be made immediately into the recipient's account.

Who Could Request to Get Unclaimed Stimulus Payments?

Taxpayers have the option of deducting the amount from their taxes for the fiscal year 2021 using the Recovery Rebate Credit, according to AS USA via MSN.

However, even though the deadline for filing taxes for this year was April 18 and the extension expired on October 17, you could still be able to claim any funds from the third EIP that you haven't yet received.

By confirming that they received letter 6475 from the IRS the previous year, taxpayers can determine if they are qualified for the Recovery Refund Credit.

By submitting your return, you would still be able to obtain the money, but since both deadlines have gone, the amount you are entitled for would be lowered by penalties, and your refunds might be smaller than you had anticipated.

On the other hand, those with lower incomes who are typically exempt from filing a tax return have until November 15 to utilize the GetCTC.org portal to seek the third stimulus check. You may also claim the child tax credit, which is worth up to $3,600.

We advise having your IRS 144-C notice, IRS letter 6475, or logging into your IRS account available if you will be filing your return with the IRS.
