DePape is accused of seizing hold of the firearm and swinging it towards Pelosi's head after the cops told them to put it down. According to the FBI affidavit, police discovered gloves, a journal, tape, rope, and zip ties in Pelosi's bedroom in addition to shattered glass.
Before being transported to a medical facility for immediate treatment of a cracked skull, Pelosi admitted to authorities in the ambulance that he had never seen DePape before and that the intruder had entered his bedroom at approximately 2:30 in the morning. requesting to speak with the House Speaker, "Nancy."
Per Fox News, DePape was informed by the lawmaker's spouse that his wife was absent, and he reportedly chose to wait for her to come back. The affidavit states that after Pelosi said his wife wouldn't be home for a few days, DePape maintained that he would wait.
The suspect may spend 30 years in prison if found guilty of the assault allegation and 20 years for the attempted kidnapping. The 82-year-old Pelosi was able to make a covert 911 call during the break-in on Friday, which led to the arrival of two San Francisco police officers.
