Selena Gomez has revealed additional details about her difficulties with mental health and receiving a bipolar illness diagnosis ahead of the debut of a documentary chronicling her road to stardom and a decade-long battle with mental health problems.
The singer admitted that she initially began having problems with her mental health in her early twenties in an interview for 'Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me' with Rolling Stone US.
Selena Gomez Recalls Contemplating Suicide
Selena Gomez said that she had had suicide thoughts for a while, but she had never really tried to take her own life. She said, "I thought the world would be better if I wasn't there."
Gomez started hearing voices in 2018, which triggered a psychotic episode. After spending several months receiving therapy, she was soon identified as having bipolar disorder, NME reported. Gomez also said that after leaving the hospital, she consulted a psychiatrist who removed all but two of the pills after realizing that she had been prescribed several drugs she shouldn't have been taking. Her condition greatly improved as a result.
Along with the Apple+ documentary, which goes further into the emotional truth of maintaining one's mental health, the artist has also just released an emotional new song.
Early in 2016, Selena Gomez is seen becoming frustrated as she prepares the stage show for her tour in support of her second studio album. Selena Gomez is then spotted apologizing to Interscope Geffen A&M Records Chairman John Janick and saying, "I don't want you to regret signing me."
Per EOnline, the Revival tour was canceled after 55 performances, during which she acknowledged that "sometimes I wake up and I feel like I don't have it in me."

Her assistant says in the video that one of the most concerning symptoms was having suicide thoughts. In 2020, she appeared on Miley Cyrus' Bright Minded Instagram Live series and disclosed to the world that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
In addition, Selena Gomez has disclosed that the medicine she uses to treat her bipolar disease makes it unlikely that she would be able to bear her own children. Gomez claimed that after visiting a friend who was trying to start a family, the sad knowledge began to weigh heavily on her. She started sobbing in her car after their meeting.
According to WebMD, using certain bipolar drugs while pregnant increases the chance of birth problems in the first trimester. Potential flaws include heart defects, developmental delays, and neurobehavioral issues in addition to neural tube anomalies.
Per Daily Mail, she acknowledged feeling like an outcast among the cool celebrities and struggled to express her concerns to friends who weren't famous. Philanthropy was one thing that actually did help Selena Gomez.
