Multibillionaire tech mogul Elon Musk will begin firing Twitter employees on Friday, according to a memo emailed to staff, which prompted some workers to file a class action case arguing the cutbacks violate employee rights.
A notice informing workers of their job status will be emailed by Friday at noon ET, according to a message sent out Thursday night.
Fired Employees Tweeted Their Reaction
CNN reported that the Twitter email tells employees that if their job isn't affected, they will be notified through Twitter. If it is affected, they will get an email with instructions on what to do next.
The email also stated that all credential access would be suspended and the company's offices would be temporarily closed "to help ensure the safety" of the staff and Twitter's systems.
In its final paragraph, the email concedes that this will be an "incredibly challenging experience" for the staff.
According to published reports, Elon Musk Twitter Takeover last week for $44 billion, he intended to fire as many as half of the company's employees.
Some Twitter employees began commenting on the platform on Thursday night and into Friday morning, claiming they had already been blocked out of their business email accounts before the scheduled Twitter layoff announcement.
Some people also posted blue heart and saluted emojis to show they were out at the firm, and others used the hashtag #LoveWhereYouWorked, a pun on a phrase that was popular among Twitter users in the past.

Aggrieved Twitter employees in the United States have filed a class-action lawsuit against Twitter, arguing that the company violated US federal law by failing to provide them with adequate notice before their contract was terminated.

In Europe, strong labor rules in nations like Belgium may make it difficult-and expensive-for Elon Musk to execute Twitter layoff. This problem also exists in the United Kingdom.
Former Twitter head lobbyist in France, Audrey Herblin-Stoop, called the company's decision to lay off public policy employees the "stupidest move ever" on Twitter.
getting rid off public policy people when you’re claiming to do “real free speech” is the stuppiest move ever.#LoveWhoYouWorkWith

Massive Firings Kicks Off Elon Musk's Twitter Takeover
The mass dismissal is the next step in Elon Musk Twitter Takeover, a platform used by world leaders like former US President Obama, President Joe Biden, President Emmanuel Macron of France, and Supreme Leader Khamenei of Iran, as reported by Politico.
Elon Musk dismissed the board of Twitter in the hours following his late October acquisition, including CEO Parag Argawal and Vijaya Gadde, who oversaw Twitter's legal, policy, and trust departments.
According to a company filing, Elon Musk has dismissed Twitter's board of directors, thus giving him full control of the social media behemoth.
Filings filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday stated that Musk became "sole director" of Twitter after finalizing the Elon Musk Twitter Takeover in late October, per Al Jazeera.
Musk also proposes charging users $8 per month to verify their accounts via the blockchain to boost revenue at the loss-making social media platform.
