Former United States President Donald Trump just sent a warning to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, saying that he would reveal unflattering information about the latter if he runs for president.
The Republican businessman sent his warning to DeSantis in an interview with reporters while flying on his private jet. Trump said that he knew more about the Florida governor than anyone other than the latter's wife, who he claimed was running her husband's campaign.
Trump vs. DeSantis
The former president's rhetoric is the most open threat yet that he has made to DeSantis in recent weeks. During a Pennsylvania rally over the weekend, Trump also referred to the Florida governor as "Ron DeSanctimonious."
The nickname was revealed less than a month after the former president called it a "big mistake" when DeSantis endorsed Colorado Republican Senate nominee Joe O'Dea. The latter had previously said that he would "actively" oppose Trump if he ran for the White House in 2024, as per CNN.
The situation also comes after the former president has repeatedly insisted that the Florida governor would be unwise to run against him in the 2024 presidential primary. Trump said that he would beat DeSantis as he would anyone else. Trump added that he believes most people would drop out, including the Florida governor.
However, such a situation may be considered wishful thinking for Trump as DeSantis appears to be on the verge of a Tuesday victory over former Gov. Charlie Christ. Such a victory would serve as a kickstarter for a potential 2024 presidential campaign for the Florida governor.
According to the New York Times, the former president has, for decades, threatened business rivals and partners, reporters, and critics with lawsuits or other potentially embarrassing details. He has since taken slash-and-burn politics to a whole new level.

Political Infighting Among Republicans
Trump has encouraged his supporters to disseminate dirt about President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden, brought women who had accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct to his debate against Hillary Clinton in 2016, and posted a tweet about a vague threat to Sen. Ted Cruz's wife in the Republican presidential primary in that same year.
However, advisers say that now, Trump is quick to anger and frequently in a state of near-rage about not being the U.S. president anymore. The former president also referred to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as an "animal" because the latter led the effort to impeach the former president twice while he was in office.
Despite Trump's words not always carrying much weight, his supporters who hear his remarks could conduct threatening actions, such as the Capitol Hill riot on Jan. 6, 2021. In the last year, the former president's use of violent rhetoric at his rallies has only increased.
Furthermore, a Trump attorney also sent a message to DeSantis on the Monday prior to the midterm elections. During an interview, Alina Habba said, speaking from a Trump rally in Vandalia, Ohio, that she thought the Florida governor was good but argued that he should stay in his home state, Fox News reported.
