Chief designer of the 5th generation J-20 Mighty Dragon stealth fighter of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) indicated that upgrading by installing artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive technologies makes it a capable combat system.

Chinese J-20 Mighty Dragon

The designer said the warplane is the most well-known of the PLAAF fighters, reported the Global Times.

Yang Wei, the Mighty Dragon's designer, commented at a press conference organized by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC) on Monday in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, South China, a day before the beginning of the Airshow China 2022.

Yang asserted that it is AVIC's obligation to outcompete rivals in terms of technology and equipment. He also noted that the development of China's aviation industry is essential. Also, military specialists should be aware of sophisticated technology's progress. They understand what people desire to see that takes place.

Indicating a strategic air force has more capabilities than homeland defence is the aim of more development in the future.

China Deploys 5th Generation Stealth Fighter

According to a recent announcement, the Chinese J-20 Mighty Dragon stealth jet is deployed in the east, west, south, and north parts of China, as well as central China, as factors like the combat capacity, the number of units, and how capable the Mighty Dragon is with the upgrades it has been given.

The chief designer mentioned that comparable fighters from the fifth generation, such as the F-22 and F-35, as well as the Su-57 Felon, are being improved, according to Air Force Technology. It means that the Mighty Dragon will be given more due to the need for improvements and newer concepts learned during air combat drills.

One explanation is that war is not a one-man affair because it is a layering of forces and capabilities. A clash of systems adds to the effectiveness of platforms utilizing a different system to attack another. Equipment from the avionics to armament also has more processing power in all its tools.

Advanced AI, Assistive Technologies

Yang Remarked that a quarter of J-20s is a formation and a small system; the top-line fighter can be grouped with a J-16 and J-10C as a small system. But, a new development is the ability of the stealth fighter to be part of loyal wingman drones. Because technologies are becoming more complex, any modern platform, such as the Mighty, is part of this interconnected battlespace, per Military Today.

The Chinese stealth fighter is an advanced system that interlocks its data system when it comes into the range of ground, sea, and air networks. It improves its chances in a connected battlefield network.

One is equipping advanced AI and assistive technologies to give pilots a better grasp of the position. No doubt more upgrades will be added to the Chinese stealth fighter called the J-20 Mighty Dragon, which is part of the 20 series aircraft. Future series will be the 30, 40, and 50 series aircraft later on.
