United States President Joe Biden will meet with South Korean and Japanese leaders Sunday to discuss methods to curb North Korea's nuclear threat following a series of missile launches before a crucial meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Apprehensions that the isolated dictatorship would soon conduct its seventh nuclear test have risen due to the North's recent record-breaking string of North Korea missile launches.

According to a report from Barron's, the White House said Biden will demand that China rein in Pyongyang's actions when he meets with Xi for the first time in person on Monday outside of the G20 summit in Indonesia.

The White House said that Biden will meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Sunday to discuss the North's "unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs."

After a month of North Korean testing, including an intercontinental ballistic missile, the three-way conference in Phnom Penh follows.

China Has the Power To Help Curb North Korea's Nuclear Threat

Pyongyang increased its launches in reaction to extensive US-South Korean military exercises, which the North labeled as "aggressive and provocative."

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the president would not make demands but will warn Xi that additional North Korea missile and nuclear build-up would entail the US increasing its military presence in the region, something Beijing strongly opposes.

Sullivan noted that "North Korea represents a threat not just to the United States" and its allies, South Korea and Japan, but "to peace and stability across the entire region."

US President Joe Biden will warn Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday that North Korea's nuclear development will increase US military engagement in the region.

The US believes China and Russia have the power to stop North Korea's threat of developing and utilizing nuclear weapons.

On the fringes of the Group of 20 summits taking place in Bali, an Indonesian tourist destination, Biden and Xi will meet for the first time as country leaders.

President Biden will warn Xi that North Korea is a danger to regional peace and stability as well as the United States and its allies South Korea and Japan, according to White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan.

Sullivan spoke to journalists on board Air Force One on Saturday as Joe Biden was en route to Cambodia for a weekend of regional talks.

Increased US Military Presence Might Happen

According to a Japan Times report the White House official underscored: "If North Korea keeps going down this road, it will simply mean further enhanced American military and security presence in the region."

The People's Republic of China has "an interest in playing a constructive role" in curbing North Korea's harshest inclinations," Sullivan continued.

The Financial Times reports that Joe Biden and Xi Jinping's meeting on Monday in Bali will also be the biggest test yet of their ability to turn around the deteriorating US-China ties.

China believed Biden would calm the waters after four turbulent years under Donald Trump. However, when they chose a new course in the face of a shared foe in the Soviet Union, ties have fallen to their lowest level since the nations' normalization of relations in 1979.

CNN stated that Biden met with the ASEAN chair and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and attended the 10th ASEAN-US summit in Phnom Penh on Saturday.
