The multi-role Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E, according to the Russian MoD, has demonstrated it can destroy an S-300 air defense system located in Ukraine.
Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E Hits Armed with Kinzhal Missile
The Ministry of Defense posted the video on social media that shows the heavy fighter's capabilities. In the course of the conflict, the fighter has proven its capabilities as a lethal combat plane, as reported by the EurAsian Times.
According to sources, the crew exercised by undertaking air raids on military bases and hostile hardware while scouting a designated place, maintaining an eye on things like bomber and assault aircraft and army helicopters.
While on the mission, the Flanker-E found and destroyed enemy planes and a radar unit used by an S-300 battery, according to Missile Threat.
According to Russian media, the Su-35S has proven itself over Ukraine, and the aircraft has prevailed, according to the pilots. They routinely shot down Ukrainian Air Force jets and used the Kh-31 anti-radar missiles to destroy enemy air defenses.
The S-300 Air Defense System
An earlier report said that the Kh-31 is called "supersonic death" because of its fast speed and ability to counter defenses, which are a sure kill for anti-air batteries. It comes in two types: Kh-31A and Kh-31P, per Deagel.
The A-variant is a ship-killing cruise missile (ASCM) with inertial guidance that can attack ships weighing up to 4,500 tons. A P-variant of the Kinzhal is an anti-radiation missile (ARM), which is specialized to detect and attack enemy radars via its radiation. Attacking most radars that, include the S-300 Air Defense System.
But the Russian Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E is a vital cog in Russian operations, according to the MoD. On November 14, it was claimed that it had easily shot down UAF MiG-29 and Su-25 aircraft.
Initially, the UAF shot the plane down. From the start of the conflict, two of the Su-35 bombers were casualties. According to Oryx, a group of open-source intelligence researchers who did their research on the planes shot down by the UAF via visual documentation of evidence, they found out it was only one Su-35 heavy fighter.
Flanker-E Technical Specifications
The Su-35S has a 30mm gun and 12 mounting points, with radar that tracks 30 targets and can track and designate targets from 400 kilometers away. It has a range of over 3,500 kilometers and is equipped with an engine, flight controls, and good radar in a 4+ generation package. Compared to the Su-27, the Su-35 is equipped with high-thrust engines called 117S, which NPO Saturn, a UEC affiliate, developed.
New electronics have replaced the older ones and are a single system too. It does not have APAR (active-phased array radar), but it can track eight targets with a 400 km detection limit. Other equipment includes friend or foe identification for air and sea objects; it can distinguish between different air targets using aerial photos of the ground. It has a standard electronic warfare suite and everything needed in a modern 4++ fighter package.
The Russian Sukhoi Su-35 Flanker-E showed its strike superiority by targeting an S-300 Air Defense System with the Kinzhal 'supersonic death' as its mission.
