Russia said that flight testing for its massive Satan II hypersonic missile had been "successfully completed."
Colonel-General Sergey Karakaev, the head of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN), made the statement without the customary Kremlin fanfare, although he did not provide any specifics on the new launch.
Vladimir Putin Tests 'Satan II' Missile
In contrast, details on President Vladimir Putin's allegedly "unstoppable" 15,880 mph hypersonic beast, known in Moscow as Sarmat, maiden flight test was quickly released in April.
The declaration comes despite concerns that the missile is not even close to becoming operational after many anticipated test launches failed to materialize. According to a statement from the Russian defense ministry, Karakaev said today that "flight tests of the Sarmat missile system have been successfully carried out."
There haven't been any movies or images of fresh launches created to far. At an enlarged meeting of the military council of the Strategic Missile Forces held in the Moscow Region, Karakaev delivered his declaration regarding the Satan II missile test.
It happened amid rumors that the highly anticipated missile was running late. By the year's end, it is planned to be deployed, Daily Mail reported.
Prior to the end of the year, Russia hinted in a rather hazy manner that "flight-design testing of the Sarmat [ICBM] may continue with a second test launch to potentially be carried out." Pro-Putin propagandists frequently threaten to unleash the 14-story-tall rocket on Western adversaries, mainly Britain and the US, in an effort to stop their support for the Russian-invaded Ukraine.
Satan II Missiles Are in Scale Production
Vladimir Putin allegedly planned to test his unstoppable missile again before the end of the year earlier this monh, as per The Sun. The beast, which can carry 15 warheads and deliver several nuclear weapons in one devastating strike, was previously bragged about by Russia, who said it will be fully operational by the end of the year.
It could destroy the United Kingdom, which is 1,600 miles away, in under six minutes. Putin, 70, asserted the nuclear missile can "break through all defenses" following a successful maiden test in April, saying it would "make anyone who try to threaten Russia to think twice."
Images from the initial launch showed the massive 115-foot missile being fired from an underground silo, causing a massive blaze. It covered about 3,600 miles, or nearly the length of Russia, in just under 15 minutes.
Nearly 50 Satan II missiles, according to Dmitry Rogozin, a close confidant of Vladimir Putin and the former head of the Russian space agency Roscosmo, are currently in "scale production" and will soon be deployed for battle. In a terrifying slide presentation to students, he bragged that the missiles could destroy "half of the US coast."
Per Telegraph via MSN, there is now just one military unit capable of transporting nuclear bombs at 20 times the speed of sound thanks to hypersonic weaponry. A few days after a Kremlin official denied claims that Russia had threatened to deploy nuclear weapons in Ukraine, reports of additional missile testing surfaced.
Putin threatened to deploy the nuclear-capable Satan II by the end of the year during the peak of the Kremlin's nuclear sabre-rattling in July. He hasn't stated anything comparable since.
