The US military is alarmed that Turkish drone strikes could risk American forces based in Syria.

US Military Alarmed with Ankara's Operation

The US army says American troops have been put at risk from a Turkish drone attack the last Tuesday on a Syria base, reported CNN.

US Central Command asserted that they obtained extra details, and there was a risk to US Troops and personnel; no US service personnel were wounded in the strike.

No more information on how many soldiers have been put in danger or in which they were situated in connection to the attack, noted VOA News.

Last Wednesday, Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley spoke to his Turkish counterpart, Gen. Yasar Guler. The printout did not give details of the discussion, but still, it says the two talked about a few items of mutual strategic value.

Subsequently, on Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, released a statement asserting that the strikes immediately threatened the security of US personnel involved in countering ISIS and safeguarding custody of more than ten thousand ISIS detainees.

Ryder demanded the immediate de-escalation of the Turkey-Syria border, and the Pentagon is worried about reports that Turkish strikes civilian targets were getting hit.

The alliance led by the US military utilizes its base near Hasakah, Syria, to combat ISIS and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The SDF shows that two of their fighters were killed during the attack.

It is substantial that the US has openly said American troops were put in jeopardy since Turkey is a NATO ally as well as a critical partner for the US in the territory.

Around the same time, the SDF also is a US partner and plays a pivotal role in the US-led consortium's quest to defeat ISIS. US troops were not at the base, as shown in the earlier comment from CENTCOM spokesman Col. Joe Buccino concerning the Tuesday attack.

He added there is opposition to military action that brings down the situation in Syria. Such activities endanger our collective objectives and the ongoing fight against ISIS to ensure the group could never reemerge and intimidate the territory, citing Yahoo.

Turkish Drone Strikes Threaten American Forces

The National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby had a press conference last Tuesday; Turkey does continue to suffer a legitimate terrorist threat, particularly to their south.

He added that cross-border activities remain the same; it could compel a response by several SDF collaborators, which would restrict or inhibit their capacity to combat ISIS, as well as that's what is on the ground with them.

The Syrian Democratic Forces have said the base is being used to develop and coordinate joint activities against ISIS, a terrorist group that a Washington-led international force aided Kurdish-led forces to conquer in northeastern Syria through early 2019, mentioned Alarabiya.

In retribution for a bomb blast that happened in Istanbul on November 13, which left six people killed and 81 injured, Ankara started Operation Claw-Sword last Sunday.

The US military is concerned the Turkish strikes will involve US troops that will hamper its anti-ISIS operations.
