Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice Arrested After Fight With Fiance in Atlantic City Casino Escalates

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested this past weekend, after an argument with his fiancé in a casino escalated.

Atlantic City police told CBS that both Rice and Janay Palmer were arrested for simple assault early Saturday.

The couple was released shortly after they were taken into police custody.

Rice and Palmer reportedly started fighting at the Revel Casino in New Jersey.

Rice's legal representation Michael Diamondstein said he thinks the issue will "turn out to be little more than a misunderstanding," once police become aware of the details of the matter.

Baltimore Ravens officials released a statement acknowledging the argument, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancé," the statement read. "We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home after being detained."

Ray Rice recently had a brush with the law - but the running back was previously the victim of a crime.

A thief broke into Rice's Reisterstown, Md. home and stole two firearms, along with $2,000 cash, from the house.

Rice wasn't home at the time of the robbery.

Rice, who played college football at Rutgers University, was drafted by the Ravens six years ago.
