The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly willing to trade guard Jeff Teague before Thursday's deadline. Teague could be included in a three-team trade involving New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert and Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, ESPN's Ian Begley reports.
New York is continuing to pursue Lowry ahead of the NBA trade deadline. The Knicks are reportedly offering trade packages including Iman Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Beno Udrih to Toronto, who appears unsold on the offer.
With Toronto believed to want a first-round pick for Lowry, Begley reports Atlanta may seize the opportunity to dump Teague's four-year, $32 million contract and enter into the trade discussions.
"One scenario to keep an eye on here, though, is the possibility of a three-team deal involving the Hawks and point guard Jeff Teague," Begley wrote on Monday. "Atlanta has all of its first-round picks in the next four drafts and could conceivably send one to Toronto to satisfy the Raptors' demand for a future draft pick.
"League sources say a scenario in which Teague ends up in Toronto, Shumpert goes to Atlanta and Lowry winds up in New York has been discussed. Another scenario could have Teague ending up in New York. The conversations are believed to be preliminary and have not reached an advanced stage."
Begley's trade scenarios are feasible. New York wants to upgrade at point guard but doesn't have another first-round draft pick until 2018, Toronto is looking for assets to rebuild with and Grantland's Zach Lowe reported Hawks general manager Danny Ferry "is not in love" with Teague's pricey contract.
The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
