On Thursday, around 3 million Massachusetts taxpayers will get tax rebates equal to 14% of the state income taxes they paid.
WBUR reports that some taxpayers are still awaiting their tax refund, even though the bulk received theirs in November.
Massachusetts Still Distributes Tax Rebates
Those who are still waiting will not have to wait much longer, as the state revenue department told GBH News that those who are eligible but have not yet gotten their rebate will receive it by Thursday.
The refunds will be sent straight into taxpayers' bank accounts or mailed to those who are not set up for direct deposit. Those who qualify will have around 14% of their state income taxes paid back.
The total amount of these rebates will be a fixed percentage of the amount of income tax paid, thus higher incomes would get substantially more than lesser earnings. WBUR observed that a person earning $35,000 year will receive $200 from this rebate, while someone earning $1 million will receive $7,000 from the rebate. Taxpayers have until September 15, 2021, to file a 2021 tax return and get this refund.
How to Get my Tax Refund?
If you haven't gotten your Massachusetts tax refund check yet, you should get it shortly. The majority of them have already been despatched, the state reported this week. Almost a month ago, as the calendar flipped to November, the first checks and direct payments from $3 billion in surplus tax revenue were sent to taxpayers. However, not everyone receives them at the same time.
Approximately 3 million individuals will get one of these reimbursements as a result of Chapter 62F. On Tuesday, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue said that nearly $2.5 billion had been delivered to approximately 2.9 million taxpayers.
About 1 million refunds totalling roughly $600 million were given by direct deposit, while approximately 1.9 million refunds totaling $1.9 billion were distributed via paper check.
The state Department of Revenue is returning the funds to qualified individuals in proportion to their Massachusetts personal income tax due incurred in the immediately prior taxable year - Tax Year 2021. According to the administration, qualifying taxpayers will receive a credit in the form of a refund equal to about 14% of their Massachusetts personal income tax burden for Tax Year 2021.
As an example, a person who made $50,000 last year and paid the state back $2,500, may get around $350 back. The Baker administration put up a website, www.mass.gov/62frefunds, where you may acquire a rough estimate of your refund. Credits are subject to offsets, state authorities warned, including for delinquent tax liabilities, overdue child support and certain other debts. If you haven't gotten your refund check yet, here's what you need to know.
According to MSN, individuals qualifying for a refund will get it automatically as a check issued through the mail or by direct deposit. All reimbursements will be granted by mid-December and are being spread across several weeks, according to the state.
Consequently, not everyone should have gotten theirs yet, and those who have not need not be alarmed. Direct deposits will be designated "MASTTAXRFD," and checks will have several phrases describing Chapter 62F and the reason the receiver is receiving a refund.
Contact the Chapter 62F call line at 877-677-9727 if you believe you are qualified but have not received your refund by December 15. Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
