An attempt by the US to limit Tehran's access to military tech has failed as the Iranian forces might get the S-400 Air Defense System, plus the deadly 4++ fighter Su-35E.
The S-400 Air Defense System Levels the Playing Field
News that the Iranian Air Force will be getting the Sukhoi Su-35E caused concern, but it gets more serious. A deal to get the S-400 air battery for Iran is causing concern, reported EurAsian Times.
US authorities say Russia might cast its past doubts and eventually end up selling its 'greatest advanced and powerful' air defenses to Tehran in exchange for a considerable supply of drones and missiles.
A week ago, the US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told The Washington Post about how the Kremlin will give Iran advanced military tech. Part of the package is air defense, and part of the deal is the S-400 Air Defense System, Su-35E.
To date, the Iranians have the S-300 given by Moscow, which leads to thinking that the more advanced S-400 will be sold as another boost to their forces.
An advanced air defense battery is a surface-to-air missile capable of attacking all aircraft, aerial vehicles (UAVs), cruise missiles, and ICBMS at their terminal phase.
Also, the fourth version of longer ranged Russian air-to-air missile; is operated by China, India, and Turkey, a NATO member.
In October 2020, Russia's then-ambassador to Iran said his country would have "no problem" selling Tehran an advanced air defense system when the UN arms embargo on the Islamic Republic is lifted.
According to the Russian ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan stated to an Iran outlet; explaining that the Kremlin has given the older variant S-300. So Russian can send the S-400 to Tehran as well, and there is no issue before
The Su-35E Is on the List
Based on a Pentagon report called Iran Military Power in 2020, Iran could try to reinstate its armed services by obtaining Russian arms.
The report indicated that Iran also desired to acquire S-400 and Bastian coastal defense systems from Moscow, citing Hurriyet Daily News.
Even so, Iran had already repeated that it does not require the Russian S-400, huge kudos to its domestic expertise.
Iran's Tasnim News Agency announced in August 2021 that the nation would start introducing its most advanced and locally produced air defense system, which would outpace the S-400's functionality.
Named Bavar-373, the platform is a long-range air defense system that can detect a maximum of 100 targets, monitor 60 of them, and engage with six simultaneously.
Nonetheless, many Western officials' speculation had grown due to increased interactions between St. Petersburg and Tehran.
Russia-Iran Partnership
According to the US, Moscow has supposedly been supplying Iran with numerous weapons technology assets, such as unidentified gunships, missile defense systems, and other assistance, like the Su-35 learning jet.
This same Russian government is supposedly pursuing the purchase of large numbers of Iranian short-range missile systems in addition to extra kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles as components of this military trade between the two sanctioned countries.
Also, Moscow wants to work with Iran on arms development, including making drones in Russia. Both nations are getting more out of the S-400 air defense system and Su-35E as centerpieces of renewed collaboration.
