In New York City, a homeless shelter stabbing attack that left one dead was caused by loud music, said the New York police department.

NYC Homeless Shelter Stabbing

Authorities reported an incident last Saturday that occurred in a Midtown shelter for the homeless; according to details, two roommates in the center had fought after one of them got annoyed from loud music getting played, reported NY Daily News.

The one who got annoyed then stabbed the other woman in the end. Based on details of the story, cops were summoned to E. 45th St. near Third Ave., at 10 pm in the Project Renewal Shelter last Friday. This deadly assault left the victim, Victoria Goode, dead from several stab wounds in the hallway on the sixth floor, noted Sports Yahoo.

Details reveal the 27-year-old Goode was killed by her attacker, Charmaine Crossman, 42, who was responsible for killing the younger woman because she did not like the loud music of the victim.

Toye Paulia, 51, one of the residents in the shelter, commented the young woman killed by stabbing was a fun person who liked music and did some pot. But she disclosed the older woman had something against having fun and demanded that the music be turned down, citing CBS News.

She added that a brawl started between the two women that extended to the hallway nearby close to the laundry room, but Charmaine had a concealed weapon.

Later another resident, Melinda Anders, mentioned that she heard screams about four floors below in the New York City building.

Anders, 63, stated that she heard screams and rushed up the floors, then saw the bloody hallway. She added that seeing the blood made her sick in the stomach, and she could not forget it.

She added that the sounds got heard up to the second floor because the structure's walls were thin. EMS arrived and took Goode to Bellevue Hospital, where she died there. In the chaos before the ambulance arrived, Crossman had long fled after the knife assault.

New York City Violence Is Rampant

Paulia mentioned the older woman had taken her stuff and left before anyone could stop her. The police searched the building but saw no sign of the suspected attacker.

Many of the residents said that the attacker and victim were at odds most of the time, which led to the homeless shelter stabbing. The same resident repeated the observation of others and how the two disliked each other. Even before, both had issues that troubled the supervisors, who declined the attacker's requests for change in the room assignments, saying they couldn't do anything and only the Department of Homeless Services could do so.

The center is a place to give a safe living space for women with various problems like mental problems and drug abuse concerns. It is not uncommon to have fights, but it was on a different level.

Adina, another resident, expressed concern for her safety in the place; what happened shook her a lot. Crossman is still on the loose as of Saturday.

Later, police showed videos of the suspect in a subway, wearing a light pink button-up cardigan over a hot pink shirt, black pants, and a black backpack, in an attempt to get tips and locate the attacker.
