A shark attack could have killed a missing woman during a snorkeling incident in Maui, said authorities.

Husband's Statement Indicates Shark Killed the Woman

The missing woman's husband said that she could have been devoured by the shark when they were snorkeling during a trip to Hawaii, reported Express UK.

It was concluded after the husband saw the oceanic predator with a bloody swirl close to its gills. The identity of the woman, 60, has been undisclosed, she was last seen on December 8. The couple had been in the water at Keawakapu Beach in Maui County stated by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources last Friday, noted Yahoo Finance.

They have not seen her body to date, so they are sure she is a shark attack victim. The husband added details that both of them had an aggressive shark attack about 50 yards from the beachfront, citing NY Post.

According to him, they were snorkeling apart at that time, so he couldn't see her all the time. That's when the incident happened based on the narrative. While in the water, the shark was going around him, making him stick his head out to see where his wife was while menaced by the oceanic predator. Soon after, he saw the shark farther away and swimming in the opposite direction but with red-like blood in the gills.

Shark Killed Snorkeling Woman

Other details reveal that people were now shouting at the man to leave the water because people on the beach saw telltale signs that a shark had killed its prey at the time.

One witness at the beach then said that he spotted a big shark that had been eating in the water and tried to warn the couple in the water. He saw the huge jaw ripping into something in the water, which was very blood red. Later the witness called 911.

A search for the missing woman in the sky and water followed until December 9; the sighting of a 10-to-12-foot tiger shark was seen in the area. The authorities were informed of the sighting, which followed an urgent warning to all swimmers in the area, which lasted till noon last Friday.

DLNR spokesperson Dan Denison stated that a thorough search will continue until nightfall, and search crews will restart in the morning. Joining the search is a US Coast Guard C130 and helicopter to assist with the search for the missing woman.

A visitor from Canada, Peter Gannon, told an outlet when asked about what happened. He said it was scary that someone had gone missing.

Earlier, Maui had another shark attack on September 3 this year when a shark attacked another snorkeling person in Paia Bay. The victim was luckier this time, only losing a left arm with two right fingers and two wounds in the torso.

Florida usually gets most of the attacks than other places in the US are rising. A shark attack is thought to be what killed a missing woman on a beach while snorkeling.
