Former United States President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform a Christmas message where he criticized the Democratic Party, the Justice Department, and mainstream media.
In his message, the Republican businessman called out the "Radical Left Marxists," who he accused of trying to destroy the United States, the "Department of Injustice," and "Lamestream Media."
Donald Trump's Christmas Message
He argued that the latter pushed for a mentally-disabled Democrat over the "brilliant, clairvoyant, and U.S.A.-loving Donald J. Trump." And on Christmas day itself, the former president highlighted the situation at the southern border and compared it to how it was during his time as president.
Trump said that during his presidency, the U.S. had the most secure border in its history and argued that now, what the country has is a "horror show." He cited the record-setting numbers of people, many of whom were hardened criminals, that were pouring into the country at a rate that has never been seen before, as per the New York Post.
The former president argued that only two years ago, the United States was energy independent, had almost zero inflation, no war with Russia, ISIS was dead, the American military was respected, the economy was growing, and the COVID-19 pandemic was controlled.
For Trump on Christmas eve, there were no visions of a bright future, only that the House Select Committee was continuing its investigation of Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot and his involvement in inciting his supporters to storm the building.
According to Yahoo News, the remarks come as the committee's final report holding the former president accountable for his lies regarding the 2020 election appears to have clouded Trump's holiday festivities.
However, Trump continued to call the report a "hoax" and repeated his claims that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged." But the former president did appear to accept a sliver of accountability when he said, "I had almost nothing to do with January 6th."
Holiday Cheers
The Republican also made disputable claims about his recent polling numbers after the official launch of his third bid for U.S. president last month. A member of the Jan. 6 committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin said on Friday that Trump's culpability was not a mystery, but a fact.
On the other hand, United States President Joe Biden posted a photo of him and his wife, first lady Jill Biden, as they were finishing up their tree on Saturday night. He later tweeted on Christmas morning that the couple was wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, hoping that people and their loved ones would be surrounded by love, happiness, and cheer during the holiday season.
In response to the 845-page final report of the committee, Trump posted a video where he attacked both the credibility of the panel and the accuracy of its conclusions, which were highly critical of him.
The report noted that the central cause of the Jan. 6 incident was one man, Trump, whom many people followed. The panel argued that none of the events of the Capitol Hill riot would have happened without him, Politico reported.
