On December 20, a man in Indiana was arrested after it was claimed that he killed and dismembered his father under the delusion that he was a robot.

According to a report citing a probable cause document, Shawn Hays, 53, was detained when officials went to a welfare check for Hays's 73-year-old father Rodney Hays.

Father Killed, Mutilated by Son

A person posing as Hays had told the police that he had killed and mutilated his father, age 73, since the man had turned into a robot. Hays was "hurriedly attempting to flee the premises in a silver Chevrolet truck" when police officers arrived on the scene, Washington Examiner reported.

After the shotgun was taken away by the police, Hays claimed he hadn't actually killed anyone. He had instead obliterated a robot that looked like his father. Hays allegedly wrote about his father being a robot on Facebook before the event.

Rodney Hays' body was discovered to have been disfigured after being shot in the head and chest. Hays is accused of at least 10 offenses, including severe violence, mistreatment of a body, domestic battery, and murder.

Hays was reportedly "hastily trying to escape the property in a silver Chevrolet pickup" when deputies arrived at the home. Additionally, there was allegedly a shotgun in the car, which authorities were able to take away while diverting his attention.

When they inquired about his father, Hays allegedly said that it was really a robot that resembled his father rather than his actual father, as per Fox News. Hays indicated the house behind the car when asked where his father was. According to the complaint, Hays was hostile when cops requested him to get out of the truck.

The Indiana man reportedly informed the authorities during the argument, "It's a robot lying there that resembles a person. To kill it, I had to fire at it."

With his Facebook posts concerning his father's artificial persona, Hays is also said to have aroused suspicions from others. According to reports, Rodney Hays was shot in the head and the chest. He was said to have been partially dismembered and mangled when police discovered his body on the lawn.

Dismembered Teen Found Buried in Shallow Grave

Meanwhile, a Virginia teen was apparently dismembered and buried in a shallow grave when she was discovered dead in November, more than a week after going missing.

Cion Carroll, 17, vanished on November 2 from his grandmother's house in Kenbridge and was discovered dead there on November 11. His cell phone last sent a signal to a Kenbridge residence of a known sexual offender, Crime Online reported.

Carroll's mother informed the news organization that while her son had two cell phones, they were both turned off. His family said that they informed the police of his last known whereabouts, but that they did not go to the scene because of a lack of proof.

Carroll was discovered dead in a little grave, and murder investigators are looking into his passing. The matter is still being investigated, according to Virginia State Police, who stated that they do not have any new information to share.

"Whatever transpired, he didn't deserve that, he was only 17," the mother of the murdered kid said. And to be left in the dark is inexplicable. Call the Virginia State Police at 434-352-7128 if you have any information on this case, or send them an email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
