US Studies Captured Russian-Made Ka-52 Helicopter

Innumerable Russian armaments had already made their way into US hands ever since the start of the Ukrainian dispute on February 24.

Even before the war, a few of them had been investigated by Western military experts. For the past 70 years, Soviet-designed armaments have not been very much of a mystery, reported Bulgaria Military.

It was mentioned that in the last 20 to 30 years, some new designs took time to come by or had any hardship accessing. In east Ukraine is where new weapons are tested in battle as well. Thanks to the Ukrainian arm forces, Washington has harvested sought-after Russian arms for study. The US wants to bag more Su-35s or the recent T-90M Proryv tank, states Military Today.

It is foolish to imagine that the warring parties will overlook the chance to investigate their adversaries in this scenario. For example, Moscow has already mentioned that it is looking into the HIMARS rocket launch, which didn't explode.

Seized armaments from the Ukrainian armed forces are also captured weapon systems from the west. For example, the United States Army analysts will most likely soon have access to Russia's "spookiest" helicopter, the Ka-52 Alligator, per The EurAsian Times.

The Ukrainian army is presently possessing a Russian helicopter with tail number 18. There is abundant proof that Moscow lost a minimum of 25 Ka-52 attack helicopters from February through November.

However, a video shared on Twitter suggests that at least one of those 25 choppers was not destroyed but seized. The date the video was shot is unknown. The loaded helicopter that was documented may have been located somewhere other than Ukraine at the time; that could have been months ago.

US military may have even studied it before returning it to the Ukrainians while it was still inside one of the temporary military installations in Poland or the Czech Republic.

Since the start of the war, Kyiv, with aid from abroad, had fixed captured Russian weapons and re-used them in battle. Where the exact place the chopper was taken intact based on the queue number, which was stuck with a technical problem in Hostomel Airport [Gostomel]. It was an airfield used by the Russian forces to launch an assault on Kyiv and its positions there.

Based on info from social media that is not verified, the crew of the Russian co-axial attack copter no.18 was forced to leave the unit intact. It stayed for 40 days with no attempt by Russians to get it back.

When the Ukrainians got control of the airport with the gunship parked there, the Kamov helicopter interested the Americans, which is not a typical Russian design but another variant of the Kamov Black Shark. It was first used by the VKS about 11 years back.

It has six mounting hardpoints for weapons on the wing, capable of 4,000 pounds of arms and reaching 18,000 feet of altitude.

Russian-made Ka-52 helicopter is considered a counter for armor; attack armored vehicles with anti-tank arms as well. Also, the unit getting captured in Ukraine, which the US wants to study as an undestroyed unit.
