With New Year fast approaching, many people are once again stuck thinking about what their New Year's resolutions will be and if they would be able to achieve them in the coming year.

While there are plenty of generic and common resolutions that you can try in 2023, there may be some rare ones that you fancy and some that would actually be healthy for your life that you should probably turn into habits.

Passion Over Looks

While many people will be going for the basic New Year's resolution of losing weight or gaining weight or something similar, you could try working on your passion more instead of focusing on how you look.

Whether or not you feel beautiful does not always come from having a physical body that other people find attractive. Feeling like the best you is sometimes a result of being able to do something that you enjoy and being able to pour your heart into something.

Random Acts of Kindness

While there is a saying that good things come to those who wait, it might be better at times to be the reason that good things come to other people. An act of kindness does not necessarily have to be something extravagant or life-changing.

Being kind can sometimes mean just opening a door for someone passing by because they have too much luggage to carry or giving a seat to a person who has been tired all day long while commuting from work to their home, as per Parade.

Reading Books

Sometimes, unconventional New Year's resolutions are better than basic goals as they can bring much more meaning to your life than other habits. For example, reading one book every month can have plenty of benefits for your life.

This could help you improve your vocabulary and help your creative side take a more dominant role in your everyday activities. Being exposed to a variety of genres and stories can also help you develop a better understanding of your experiences in real life.

Building a Budget

Money is one thing that almost anyone would like to use or spend on things or activities that they want or enjoy. But having little control over your finances is a formula for failure and could further devoid you of a comfortable future.

GoodHousekeeping recommends making a habit of budgeting your money as one way to ensure that you will always have enough spare finances to pay for emergencies or slowly but surely save up for other, more expensive wants, such as trips and vacations.

Avoid Procrastination

While it is sometimes difficult to get out of a lazy mode, working on reducing the amount of time you waste by procrastinating will end up serving you better in the long run. Just a few minutes of doing something, in the course of months, will have significant effects on your life.

Another benefit to this is that once you make a habit of activity or chore that you previously would only put off, it becomes routine and easier to manage. At that point, it could also become automatic for you to do something, as per LifeHack.
