Newly empowered House Republicans demanded that the White House turn over any material connected to its searches that unearthed classified documents at President Joe Biden's home and old office following the discovery of more records at his Delaware home.

Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, stated, "We have a lot of questions."

Biden's Classified Documents

Comer has requested documents and correspondence relating to the Biden team's searches and visitors log of the president's house in Wilmington, Delaware, from January 20, 2021, until the present. He stated that the objective is to establish who may have had access to classified documents and how the data were obtained.

The White House announced on Saturday that it uncovered five additional classified pages at Biden's residence on Thursday, the same day a special counsel was hired to investigate the problem.

In a letter written to White House chief of staff Ron Klain on Sunday, Comer condemned the searches conducted by Biden associates as the Justice Department was commencing its investigation and questioned whether Biden had compromised national security by mishandling sensitive data.

By the end of the month, Comer ordered that the White House submit all pertinent information, including visitor records, as per News18. On CNN's 'State of the Union,' Comer referred to Biden's residence as a "crime scene" although admitting that it was unclear whether any laws were violated.

According to agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, the US Secret Service must maintain visitor logs at the president's private house. The White House has verified that Biden has not kept independent records of who has visited his home since he became president.

Indeed, early in President Donald Trump's administration, it was declared that visitor records would not be released due to "severe national security implications and privacy issues for the hundreds of thousands of yearly visits."

The Democratic administration of Barack Obama initially resisted efforts by Congress and conservative and liberal groups to get visitor information. However, following a lawsuit, the company began freely revealing the logs in December 2009, uploading data every three to four months.

In 2013, a federal appeals court determined that the logs may be suppressed based on presidential executive privilege. This unanimous decision was authored by Judge Merrick Garland, currently Biden's attorney general.

More Classified Documents Discovered at Joe Biden's Residence

During the investigation of Biden's private library, White House lawyer Richard Sauber stated on Saturday that six pages of classified documents from Biden's tenure as vice president in the Obama administration were discovered.

The White House had previously stated that only one document was discovered. The new admission followed the discovery of records in Biden's garage in December and his former offices at the Penn Biden Center in Washington in November.

According to Sauber, Biden's attorneys, who lacked security clearances, ceased their investigation after seeing the first page on Wednesday evening. Thursday, Sauber discovered the additional materials while aiding their collection by the Justice Department.

Sauber did not explain why the White House delayed two days before providing an updated accounting, as per Daily Mail.. The White House is already under fire for taking more than two months to acknowledge the discovery of the first batch of documents in President Biden's office.

Meanwhile, political analysts on MSNBC's 'The Katie Phang Show' were concerned on Saturday that President Biden's issue involving classified documents would damage his "momentum" and poll ratings after "so much effort" had been done to improve them.

Phang questioned Democratic strategist Alencia Johnson on whether the White House has done enough to explain Biden's handling of sensitive papers, saying that opponents have asserted that the public lacks "sufficient information."

Johnson said that the White House should be more open since Biden's probe overshadows positive inflation news and might cause people to lose faith in him, according to Fox News.

Phang emphasized that Republicans are influencing the narrative by making parallels between the conduct of Biden and former President Donald Trump regarding the mishandling of classified documents.
