Brian Walshe, the husband of missing Cohasset, Massachusetts, woman Ana Walshe, has been charged with a new set of crimes for allegedly misleading police authorities investigating the disappearance of his wife.

On Tuesday, the Norfolk District Attorney's office said that Brian was being charged with his wife's murder. The DA's office sent an email that revealed Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey was announcing the issuance of a murder warrant in the death of 39-year-old Ana who went missing on or about New Year's Day.

The statement added that the warrant was issued from Quincy District Court on January 17, 2023, and noted that the arraignment would be as early as 9:00 a.m. the next day depending on the availability of the defense attorney.

The district attorney also issued a minute-long statement where he announced the new charge against Brian but did not provide new information regarding the case. In the video, Morrissey noted that detectives from the Cohasset Police Department and Massachusetts state police detectives who were assigned to Ana's case were involved in an intensive investigation, as per Fox news.

The district attorney also said that in the early stages of the investigation, police were able to develop probable cause to believe that 47-year-old Brian misled police investigators. The situation was regarding material matters that were considered important to the search for Ana.

However, Brian has pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder of his wife and is currently under official custody at the Norfolk County house of correction. Continued investigation has also allowed police authorities to obtain an arrest warrant that charged Brian with the murder of Ana.

Morrissey noted that the suspect will be transported to the Quincy District Court for his arraignment on the charge of Ana's murder. Further information regarding the investigation and the evidence that supported the charge against Brian were more likely to be presented at that time.

The district attorney's announcement came as authorities have not yet discovered Ana's body nor did he disclose what led prosecutors to believe that she was killed. A judge in Quincy District Court sealed the murder warrant, noting that 13 warrants were previously sealed in the investigation on Friday, according to NBC Boston.

Law enforcement personnel have only been searching for Ana's whereabouts for more than a week despite her husband saying that she has been missing since the new year. The people of Cohasset, across Massachusetts, and in the US, have been riveted by the search for the missing woman.

Police have been led across the Boston area in search of Ana and officers even sifted through the garbage in search of potential evidence. Furthermore, sources said that included among the items that authorities found at a trash facility in Peabody were a hacksaw, bloody materials including towels, and materials that were consistent with some of the items that the victim's husband allegedly purchased at Home Depot.

The disappearance of Ana comes as her husband, Brian, who is the son of a wealthy family, pleaded guilty in 2021 to charges that he had sold fake Andy Warhol paintings to a California art dealer, said the New York Times.
