Buckingham Palace unveiled information about King Charles III's coronation on Saturday, which would be less lavish than his mother's 70 years earlier, in response to the current cost of living crisis in the United Kingdom.

Reports indicate that just 2000 guests, including foreign royals and dignitaries, would be invited. Many of the invitees are expected to be the same individuals that showed up for Queen Elizabeth's funeral on September 19, 2022.

King Charles III coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6; on Sunday, May 7, there will be a "Coronation Big Lunch" and a "Coronation Concert;" and on Monday, May 8, there will be an additional bank holiday. On the final day, people from different locations will be encouraged to participate in "The Big Help Out" by offering their time, according to CNN.

King Charles III Coronaton Will Be "Solemn", Shorter Than Queen Elizabeth's

The coronation ceremony, led by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, will be "a solemn religious service, as well as an occasion for celebration," according to the palace.

Buckingham Palace emphasized that King Charles III coronation will "represent the Monarch's position today and "look towards the future," while also being entrenched in traditional practices and "pageantry."

Experts have deduced from this palace statement that King Charles III coronation would be less pompous and more low-key than that of his late mother's 70 years ago, with the ceremony being shortened and some of the more medieval components of the rite being updated.

Queen Elizabeth's coronation lasted three hours. It was the first royal coronation broadcasted on television.

The King's Procession will bring Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, to Westminster Abbey from Buckingham Palace, and the bigger Coronation Procession will bring them back.

Details of The Three-Day Weekend Celebrations

The first event is the actual Coronation on May 6th, with the King and Queen Consort marching to Westminster Abbey for the "solemn religious ritual." After the King Charles III coronation, the Royal Family will take part in a second parade and make an appearance together on the balcony. The royal family members who will join King Charles III on the balcony have not yet been announced by Buckingham Palace, per Town & Country.

The Windsor Castle Concert is set on May 7, according to Buckingham Palace. The BBC and BBC Studios willproduce, stage, and broadcast the Coronation Concert live from the East Lawn of Windsor Castle. It will include performances by global music giants and current talents, who will be backed by a top-notch orchestra and dancers, according to People.

King Charles III coronation will be attended by volunteers from many of the King and Queen Consort's charitable organizations, and the general public will have the chance to win free pairs of tickets in a nationwide poll.

The Big Help Out will be undertaken on Monday, May 8. The Buckingham Palace noted that program aims to inspire individuals to try volunteering for themselves and to become involved in efforts to help their communities "and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend."
