Turkey gave its ultimatum that Sweden and Finland follow the conditions of the agreement to complete its NATO bid. Istanbul said the two Nordic states would do what was needed and stop vile attempts to undermine it.
Sweden and Finland Given an Ultimatum
In a serious demand that Ankara told Stockholm and Helsinki to follow all demands under the June memorandum or lose its NATO bid, remarked the Turkish defense chief, ANews reported.
The Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar attended a virtual meeting with officials in the military, emphasizing the provocations directed at his country. They are the PKK rallies and the burning of the Quran in Stockholm, cites Anadolu Agency.
Sources disclose that Akar commented on the disappointment in how these Nordic nations are acting. He called how they do not acknowledge what is s offensive against Ankara, President Tayyip Erdogan, its flag, and religion, with values they condone.
He got serious about the slight and added that their actions would lead to consequences. As he indicated, it is why Ankara will not agree to finish their bid, all security concerns must be complied with.
Turkey Is the Final Arbiter
Last May, Stockholm and Helsinki wanted to join the western military block that signaled the end of these nations dropping neutrality. The initial NATO member opposed them joining for allowing terror groups like the PKK.
The June memoranda signed by the three nations are for security concerns that would have admitted the Nordic nations a way to join the alliance, according to TRT World.
Instead of a positive turn of events that would have gotten it okay, terrorist supporters and those opposed to Islam are doubted if they want to comply to enter NATO.
Akar remarked his country was all for the open door policy and mentioned that the NATO hopefuls are okay. No problem exists between them; they are free to join but agree on those terms. He clarified that Ankara is willing to defend his nation with the military bloc. Needed is cooperation and support against terrorists.
Nordic Nations Lose Bid If Ankara Objects
Stockholm and Helsinki want to get Ankara's support to acquire the military umbrella for their states, except to deny Ankara's security demand. Istanbul is trying to harness its international relations and diplomacy to curb terrorism.
Recently Stockholm, in slight, had allowed the leader of the Stram Kurs (Hard Line) Party, Rasmus Paludan, with police protection was allowed to burn the Quran in protest in front of the Turkish Embassy last Saturday.
A week before, Stockholm was asked to commit definitive action after terror groups took to the streets. The PKK made an effigy of Erdogan with threats against Ankara and its president.
Turkish officials met in Moscow with Russian and Syrian representatives in discussions; the Turkish government intends to oppose terror groups.
One point stressed by the Turks to the other participants was how the end to migration is desired, so Syrians will return to their homes when everything is better. A month ago, about 134 terrorists were eliminated.
Turkey stressed an ultimatum that Sweden and Finland must comply with, as doubt if they want to do something about it.
