The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released additional video from the time of Keenan Anderson's death in police custody earlier this month.

Anderson was Patrisse Cullors' cousin and a co-founder of BLM (Black Lives Matter). On Jan. 3, the 31-year-old Washington, DC, high school English teacher flagged down an officer for a vehicle collision in Venice, California, according to Fox News.

Eyewitnesses said Anderson was the cause of the wreck. After speaking with Anderson, the officer requested help from other units for a DUI probe.

The event before Anderson's arrest is shown on the entire body camera footage, which was made public on Monday. The Keenan Anderson body cam video lasts for nearly seven minutes.

He may be heard talking with an officer about what caused the collision. Additionally, he can be heard shouting "help" several times and even requesting a lawyer.

Following that, Anderson flees the police and escapes into the street. For many minutes, several cops took him to the ground. Before six Taser shots are fired at him in 42 seconds, he seems to fight with the cops.

Then an ambulance arrived, handcuffed Anderson, and took him away. Four hours later, he passed away in the hospital. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has placed a "security hold" on the results of his autopsy and the investigation into Keenan Anderson's death.

Anderson Family Sues Los Angeles

LAPD Chief Michel Moore initially said Anderson died of cardiac arrest. Subsequently, he said at a press conference that the agency is unsure of the exact reason for Anderson's demise, as reported by Vice.

The family of Anderson sued the City of Los Angeles for $50 million in damages. At a press conference, Carl Douglas and civil-rights attorney Ben Crump, who represented George Floyd's family in Minnesota, revealed the damages suit in line with Keenan Anderson's death.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office is anticipated to carry out its independent toxicology testing, who added that a preliminary toxicology-blood screen of Anderson's blood samples revealed positive results for cocaine and marijuana, per CNN.
