An ex-Wagner mercenary was detained by Norway after crossing its borders illegally and requesting asylum. The allegedly high-ranked Wagnerian military contractor is now in Norwegian authorities as of Monday.

Norway Detains Ex-Wagner Mercenary

The Russian mercenary, identified as Andrey Medvedev, was apprehended due to the Immigration Act and is being assessed if he should be produced for detention, according to Jon Andreas Johansen of the Norwegian immigration police, who spoke to the Associated Press. But an outlet in Norway explains the act of detention is not for a criminal act but for security's sake.

Medvedev explained that he could not return to Russia because of threats to end his life.
